That has to be his season low, no? I didn't see the game, so I wasn't sure if it was an injury. UConn Blog was posting about how well he was playing, so you'd figure he would have played more than 16 minutes. Just trying to get the story here...

Foul trouble. May turn out to be quite helpful in the WVU game to have had him rested and hopefully not reagitating his foot.

Foul trouble and boat was doing just fine as well as Giff. The rest will be beneficial with the grind they face.

It was foul trouble, but it looked to me like they rested him in the second half. He could have played more, but with a lead, and Boatright doing ok, they probably just kept him out.

Was it foul trouble?

Good question. Definitely in the first half. But he sat a good deal of the 2nd half w/ only 2 or 3 fouls. He played very well (for him, lol) early on, so I was surprised how long he sat in the 2nd half. We were up close to 20 for a good chunk of the 2nd half, so maybe it was a strategic move to rest him as others suggested above. It definitely wasn't for poor/insubordinate play as far as I could tell.

So Bazz was sick, because it couldn't have been foul trouble from what I am reading in this thread...

You guys are all wrong. It was foul trouble.

? Don't know what you mean. Many of already said that it was largely foul trouble.

Shabazz picked up fouls:

@ 11:29 left in the first half
@ 6:34 left in the first half (2)
_____
@ 18:06 left in the second half (3)
@ 11:11 left in the second half (4)

So if he plays 30ish+ a game, 6 are taken away at the end of the first half. 7 more after he gets his third very early in the second half (during which time depaul comes rolling back, boatright - and lamb - looks sloppy with the ball and bazz doesn't come in right away). He sat an awfully long time, although, as we've all already said, most of that was because of foul trouble.

It was both - he got sick from eating bad chicken - foul trouble will get you sick every time.

Hard to imagine you didn't realize this was sarcasm based on the 15 posts saying it was foul trouble.

I believe it was because he is still upset about being dubbed the "reach-around bandit."

OK now this thread is more like the Boneyard we all grew up with!

Obviously foul trouble was the primary reason, but JC didn't put him back in till real late in that game. I'm assuming they felt they had a big enough lead to try to rest Bazz as much as possible to keep him fresh as long as they can. He's been banged up most of the season and only since the Pitt game, IMO, he's looked a lot more healthy than he has in some time.

I like that he played limited minutes and should be a lot fresher for tomorrow's game. I expect a big game out of him against WVU.

I still think Napier needs to shoot the ball more. I like the fact that he's trying to facilitate, but as we head into March, he needs to understand that he's one of the best scorers on the team. Shooting three times a game won't get it done, considering he can be deadly from deep range and off the bounce.
