Ante up

I see:
Jon Wholley, UConn Alum, former UConn Coach, DC at Fordham, LB/DB coach
Aaron Smith, UConn alum, UAlbany recruiting coordinator, WR Coach, Grad Asst under Edsall
Lyndon Johnson, UConn alum, longtime Edsall colleague, ST-OLB coach, Towson recruiting coordinator

Terry Richardson, former UConn coach, noted Florida connections, RB coach extraordinaire

DC & OC from past - pay them a bunch. I bet DC may be one of two youngish Defensive coaches at Lions.

OL is Foley or the last guy at Maryland Sturdiwa.

That leaves a few surprises. Same old Edsall.

weyou.

New: Director of Football Strength and Conditioning (Specialist 2A)

Minimum Qualifications
Master’s degree; five years of experience (within the past seven years) at a FBS level academic institution as the head strength coach for the football program; a registered strength and conditioning coach (RSCC) by the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) and a strength coach certified (SCCC) through the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association (CSCCA); and demonstrated knowledge of the correct application of NCAA regulations.

Preferred Qualifications
Ten years of strength and conditioning coaching experience at the FBS level; six years’ experience as the head football strength and conditioning coach at the FBS level; and certified in the Functional Movement Screen (FMS).

This job posting is scheduled to be removed at 11:59 PM eastern on January 12, 2017.

I want to see a posting for a Director of Football Speed and Agility.

As for Balis, well - I didn't see a stronger UConn team on the field the past three years. They did look taller - but that is because Diaco loves prototypes for body sizes.

Yup... I'm putting my $$$ on us looking at a few NFL guys to fill out our staff...Gotta put the glass half full hat on with this one... We've suffered enough
Woo-hoo Chip Kelly is coming here!

.-.
As has been said, it's probably an administrative move to account for the observed New Year Holiday. A candidate may be selected at any time after the posting time frame requirement has been fulfilled. My guess is the OC position was re-posted because the minimum requirements changed slightly as we ll as the "Hiring Manager." The job descriptions for the new posts are so broad, they won't have to be re-posted once they "find" someone.
Nothing changed in the minimum or preferred requirements - only the closing date. It went from the 4th to the 6th. The DC posting went from the 4th, to the 6th and now the 5th. Both as of this morning.
The Hiring Manager changed.
How? This is a different posting than the Bob Diaco OC posting.
Yes. (The second sentence answers the first.)

Not sure if we're spinning in opposite directions. Two separate postings and time frames. The first OC posting when Diaco was Coach closed on the 26th. The new posting after Diaco got whacked and Edsall was named was posted on the 28th and initially closed @11:59 on the 4th but has been extended to the 6th. The Hiring Manager (Edsall) did not change in the second posting just the closing date.

Just timing... not a big deal.

Hmmmm.... FWIW

Wasn't adding Wholley something everyone saw as a foregone conclusion?

Is there any high school coach in the state of Connecticut capable of making the jump to college as a position coach?

Matt Rhule hired some prominent Texas HS coaches to his Baylor staff to help him get a lay of the land in Texas. Maybe Edsall will look to do something similar. Wouldn't be a bad idea to look at prominent HS coaches in NY, NJ, MA, VA, OH, PA, and CT. Two names that come to mind in CT (who could be available) are Sean Marinan and Jack Cochran. Both are tremendous coaches, with connections to many high school coaches in the northeast and we know Cochran can recruit. I know it's far fetched, now that he's traveling a greater path, but I would love to see Casey Cochran come back to work with the QBs. Casey has a very high football IQ and already has experience working with young QBs.

I wouldn't touch Jack with a 10ft pole.

He's not for everyone. I didn't care much for him before I got to know him a bit. He has his faults (who doesn't) for sure, but he's all-in for the kids he coaches. If you ask anyone that has ever played for him, they would all vouch for him. He hasn't always made the best decisions, but his heart is in the right place, he has a great eye for talent, he's a tremendous coach (he's developed more College/NFL players then any high school coach in the state) and motivator, and he can sell ice to an Eskimo.

Whether he was "cleared" or not, the guy committed recruiting violations in HS, I can only imagine what would happen if you gave him a salary and said go recruit lol

i wonder how popular he would be with the CT high school coaches.

I'm predicting he goes full 2004. We get Norries Wilson as OC and Hank Hughes as DC.

Gee not a good sign when they have to extend the deadlines. Did Edsall leave Maryland on good terms with any of his assistants? Who did he bring in there? He must have made a friend or two along the way willing to head a little farther up I-95. Is there any high school coach in the state of Connecticut capable of making the jump to college as a position coach? That might go a ways towards opening a few doors if there is one.
You're a special kind of dope aren't you?

not very
Believe it or not (I've attended a number of coaching clinics when Jack was there) the majority of the CT high school coaches like/respect him, including some of his biggest rivals on the field, not named Jim Buonocore, Jr. Cochran also ran the state weight lifting competition when he was at New Britain and New London, every league in the state was represented at the event. He was well respected amongst CTHSFB coaches.

However, JC may not be available....
Legendary Conn. football coach Jack Cochran leaves to run a restaurant

A D1 school Southwest of UConn. That is literally every school other than BCU And Cuse.

I think he means across the border from CT and then go Southwest.

What is across the border to NY and then SW NY?
