Who Guards Royce White?

we should press him with shabazz. there's no way he has elite handle, or he would be a top 3 pick.

Him bringing the ball up the court is a little misleading. When he brings it up, he seems to always walk the ball up over half court and then just dump it to one of the guards. I was a little curious why he brought it up at all. That being said, he is a very good passer and he has a well rounded game that definitely gives teams difficulty guarding.

Baxter was a back to the basket player. White looks like a poor man's Anthony Mason (meant as a compliment).

drummond jr at the line lol u see that brick. kid looks like a thick sf. short but wide and has ok hops. i sat let drummond guard him. when JC got into drummonds head in the 2nd half of the wvu game, it was like jones wasn't even in the building. i actually think olander may be a nice option also. the kid has a big body but not lenghty so while tyler may get pushed around a little bit he will get boards and get some over the back calls with his good positioning.

I keep hearing he is this complete nightmare, but he averaged 13 points. Thats ok, but not what you would expect based on how people describe him.

The guy averages almost as many assists as Bazz from the forward position.

I want to run Olander and AO on him, and maybe Roscoe. He shoots under 50% from the line. As other teams do to AO, this guy should never get a clean look at a layup without being hacked. Hard fouls over and over. Drummond can guard him, but the fouls should come from elsewhere.

Does he remind you at all of Kawhi Leonard from SDSU last year? He was supposed to be a matchup nightmare, with a similar skill set as Royce White, but I don't recall him being too much of a problem (obviously, since we won the game).

I question Olander's and AO's lateral quickness in guarding White. I like Drummond first and Roscoe if necessary. UConn may rotate guys on him.

Antrik Klaiber!

If he can ever get out of Calhoun's doghouse

interesting thinking back to our run last year, who was the best post player we crossed paths with? Derrick Williams hands down. Only reason he was negated was because of foul trouble. This Royce kid is no where near the level of derrick williams, for instance royce shoots horribly from the line and isn't as cerebral. Bottom line, who ever guards him needs to bring it.

The fact the someone even brought up TO to guard him is laughable.

To foul him yes, but if I read properly I think one poster actually suggested him guarding.

Drummond should guard him and than Scoe. All his play making ability seems to be off pick and rolls and dribble penetration. From reading the Iowa st. board he doesn't seem to post up or shoot it that well from the outside. Play off of him and make him an open jump shot. Kind of how teams play defense against Rondo.

Ok so hea a nice player. I'm not saying he is isnt buy people have been describing Lebum James not a guy who average 13 pts in the crappy big 12.

I've seen them play several times this year and Royce White is very good, Olander simply can't guard him. Maybe start with Roscoe but most of the time I want Drummond on him.

I could see JC switching different guys on him, maybe starting with Roscoe, then shifting to Andre. We need to avoid early foul trouble by Andre and Alex. If they play really small, I wonder how much time Alex will get.

What I would like to see would be our guys taking it to White getting him in foul trouble.

Crappy Big 12? Did you watch basketball other than UConn games this year?

The Big 12 is easily on par with the Big East and you could easily make an argument that they a better league this year. Off the top of my head i know Kansas beat Gtown, Missouri destroyed ND, Baylor beat WV, Iowa St beat Providence...

There probably are some BE wins in there too..im pretty sure WV beat K state.

But point being that the Big East isn't as far superior to the Big 12 as your suggesting.

I don't disagree with you but those aren't exactly even matchups to draw conclusions from, aside from ND/Missouri. Cuse v KU, Marquette v Missouri, Baylor vs ND and ISUvs GTown would be the matchups that would be more telling.

Oh I agree, but those are the games that were played.

But gun to your head with the match ups that you suggested who do you got? IMO the top 3 in the Big 12 are better than Marquette, ND, Gtown.

I think the Big East is deeper, especially in the middle, but the Big 12 has 3 really good to great teams.

There is a reason that the most of the country hates the Big East...we constantly think we are the best. Most years we are, but this year we aren't and there are some really good teams out there in other conferences.

Defensively Those teams aren't very strong. I meant on defense. Average 13 ppg isn't nearly as impressive as you'd expect based on the description people are giving the guy. "6 8 270. Blows past guards. Great vision. Sounds like an NBA all star

Yeah, but there's 9 boards and 5 assists to go along with those 13 points. He's going to be a challenge to guard, but I'd rather that than have their best player be a 3 point threat.
