What would a Big 12 or ACC invitation look like?

There’s only one poster on this board who leg humps Seton Hall and keeps mentioning the AAC, we should assume he’s hellbent on turning our state flagship athletic department into Seton Hall North or if that fails, wants to rejoin the AAC.

You already tried this. Got anything else?

John's go to retort anytime I criticize his Big East bashing is to claim that I want UConn to be like Seton Hall.

For those scoring at home, I do not make a post about Seton Hall without pointing out how bad the teams is, how they have no NIL money, how Holloway should leave, and even proposed that they should drop down to a lesser conference. Other than a few posts that Holloway's teams have good defensive fundamentals, I have probably not made a remotely positive post about Seton Hall since last season, and even those posts were some version of "I can't figure out how this team is winning with this roster". And John thinks I want UConn to be like Seton Hall.

If we get into a P4, we’re far more likely to make the cut in a future reshuffling. We would leave BC, Wake etc. in the dust.
are we though? I don't see us in any better position than Wazzu and Oregon State. Their brand/stock continues to drop, and pretty soon they'll be firmly entrenched in G5 perception/status. The public will struggle to remember that they used to share the stage with USC and Oregon.

Basketball has already been shown to NOT move the needle enough. That's the only card we have, and it still doesn't get us in.

I have no reason to think it would keep us in, if the ACC fell apart (choosing ACC because its the P4 that seems most likely to collapse).

If our football continued to ascend aggressively as a P4 member (let's say ACC), and basketball stays on fire, then that's a diff story. A P3 might see the value there. But BBall alone, and football consistently mediocre could very well put us in a AAC 2.0 situation again. By then, I doubt the Big East lifeboat will come around again. Maybe the Big East is gone by then.

Yeah but UConn brand is larger and has reach into the largest media market in the country. This market also has a lack of big-time college programs that UConn can fill

OSU and especially Wazzu have mediocre markets and now share their states with B1G teams. Who's gonna care about the Beavers when the #1 Oregon Ducks are in town

Yep. UConn has a very big brand. We dominate college basketball. Give us a P4 spot and an average or better football team and we are way more valuable than schools like Oregon State.

We are already more valuable than Oregon State. Imagine if we were put on a level playing field...

Only thing that conference likes about us is to keep us out of its Little Man UConn Haters Club. I think their letter would be more akin to:

I wouldn't care if the invite came from Woodstock and Snoopy. As long as it's official from the ACC.

until everyone announces they're leaving. Hellooooo ACC = AAC 2.0!
The SEC doesn't want FSU or Clemson and remember that South Carolina and Florida have a right to deny either team. I have talked to a SEC guy and he stated they were not wanted or needed at this time. They got what they wanted in Texas and Oklahoma.

Can that change yes but there is nothing on the board now. I think the ACC and Big 12 end up in some agreement before long

I honestly believe that the SEC picked Texas without understanding what NIL was and how it would impact them.

Without NIL, all of the SEC schools would have had free access to Texas recruits that they were going to yank out of the state by winning those games, and the Longhorns would just wither on the vine.

Now? Texas is going to keep the bulk of their high-profile Texas recruits, as well as buy many of the SEC recruits / starters with their deep pockets. The SEC is going to regret this. They probably were all better served getting Florida State and Clemson, leaving Texas the inability to elevate to elite status in the Big12 because they weren't "SEC"...

They have cornered Texas with Texas, Texas A&M and Oklahoma. I think they see it as keeping the OSU, Mich, and such out of the area.

The realignment is not done yet which gives UConn a change to land in one of the top 4 conferences

Respectfully i disagree. Texas football, like our BB is hard to kill or die on the vine. That is what all of our old BE foes thought would happen. Texas just went through some bad FB hires.
