What would a Big 12 or ACC invitation look like?

I really wish UConn could compete on a national level. I hate being a tiny regional program that never wins anything.

For me it's more about the need to increase revenue going forward. It's obscene that am A10 school will be paying BB this much.

are there national-level athletic departments in the Big East beyond us?

At the 16:08 mark Mark admits he got killed for his story breaking the news about UConn going to the Big 12. Pete believes it will happen as long as Yormark is in charge.

the Big 12 is guaranteed revenue even if it is early on only like half, the ACC we might not get ANY share before the tv contract is up, and by then I don't see the ACC even being a stable conference, we'd be putting ourselves again behind the line in realignment

There is less than a 0% chance of it even being half. The last reported discussion between UConn and the Big 12 was around UConn getting a partial share for basketball only for a few years as it earned its way in. With football, the Big 12 promised nothing other than to take another look at the football program in 2032.

That is the offer that several on this board wanted to take.

it's definitely better to stay in the low-rent Big East while our football program dies and athletic department implodes. Go Basketball though!

So you are blasting the whole state of Connecticut because you believe UConn will turn down an offer it has not received. You must believe any offer will be terrible.

But was it a commitable offer?

How would being a basketball only in the Big 12 be better?

it gives the athletic department and football program a fighting chance and road map instead of slowly withering away with the likes of [insert Big East school here].

Pete Mundo says the B12 is in an arms race with the ACC. Let’s hope that is reality with each leagues leadership. I’m leaning to a B12 offer it we have a “choice”.

The other thing they discussed would be de-coupling the contracts between bball and fball. In the B12 would there be the possibility of splitting WBB and MBB into separate contracts also?

If UConn had stayed in the AAC like you wanted it to, UConn does not win the last two basketball championships, or stay relevant in women's hoops, and UConn is not even in the conversation to be added to a P4.

You have a sad AAC fixation, and a talent for misrepresenting other poster’s views (which is to say you’re a dishonest person).

You often make some good points, but man you can also jump to wild conclusions and are way too at ease attributing positions to posters that they haven’t taken. Take it easy.

Of every topic I have posted about in the history of the Boneyard, one of the areas I feel the most confidence in is my characterization of your opinions about conference affiliation.

So your dishonest and delusional to boot.

The best we can expect is a “pause” letter. That’s as good as it gets.

There are about 10 posters on this board for whom the simple mention of the Big East leads to an attack or a full blown diatribe. How else should we interpret relentless attacks on a conference we are in and for which there is no better option? Until one of these posters proves otherwise, we should assume they want us back in the AAC.

There’s only one poster on this board who leg humps Seton Hall and keeps mentioning the AAC, we should assume he’s hellbent on turning our state flagship athletic department into Seton Hall North or if that fails, wants to rejoin the AAC.

Just a dumb take. It’s very possible two or more things can be true.

UConn can be in the Big East and working towards an invite in the P4.
Fans can appreciate the Big East but hope for a P4 invite.

The real issue is why you take it so personally when anyone suggests UConn’s future might be brighter outside the Big East and immediately turn to AAC as only option.

we all know that UConn is looking and talking to Big 12 (and probably ACC). That indicates UConn isn’t 100% satisfied with status quo.
What comes of this effort is open for debate.

You’re like the guy in 1968 saying man will never get to the moon, and when asked why, the only response is ‘well, he hasn’t gotten there yet so…’

You are claiming that I want UConn to stay in the Big East in a thread I started about UConn getting out of the Big East. Weak.

You already tried this. Got anything else?

Evasion noted.

John's go to retort anytime I criticize his Big East bashing is to claim that I want UConn to be like Seton Hall.

For those scoring at home, I do not make a post about Seton Hall without pointing out how bad the teams is, how they have no NIL money, how Holloway should leave, and even proposed that they should drop down to a lesser conference. Other than a few posts that Holloway's teams have good defensive fundamentals, I have probably not made a remotely positive post about Seton Hall since last season, and even those posts were some version of "I can't figure out how this team is winning with this roster". And John thinks I want UConn to be like Seton Hall.

If we get into a P4, we’re far more likely to make the cut in a future reshuffling. We would leave BC, Wake etc. in the dust.
are we though? I don't see us in any better position than Wazzu and Oregon State. Their brand/stock continues to drop, and pretty soon they'll be firmly entrenched in G5 perception/status. The public will struggle to remember that they used to share the stage with USC and Oregon.

Basketball has already been shown to NOT move the needle enough. That's the only card we have, and it still doesn't get us in.

I have no reason to think it would keep us in, if the ACC fell apart (choosing ACC because its the P4 that seems most likely to collapse).

If our football continued to ascend aggressively as a P4 member (let's say ACC), and basketball stays on fire, then that's a diff story. A P3 might see the value there. But BBall alone, and football consistently mediocre could very well put us in a AAC 2.0 situation again. By then, I doubt the Big East lifeboat will come around again. Maybe the Big East is gone by then.

Yeah but UConn brand is larger and has reach into the largest media market in the country. This market also has a lack of big-time college programs that UConn can fill

OSU and especially Wazzu have mediocre markets and now share their states with B1G teams. Who's gonna care about the Beavers when the #1 Oregon Ducks are in town
