What would a Big 12 or ACC invitation look like?

Respectfully i disagree. Texas football, like our BB is hard to kill or die on the vine. That is what all of our old BE foes thought would happen. Texas just went through some bad FB hires.
They did, but they also weren't getting the best players in Texas to stay away from Alabama, Texas A&M, LSU, etc. The SEC had already effectively cornered the market in Texas.

If you look at the top 20 recruits from Texas (Rivals) for the years 2022, 2021, 2019, 2018, you'll find that the lion's share went to the SEC. Then examine last year. Texas all of the sudden is grabbing large portions. I expect that will keep growing after this year as well.

To UConnBill's point, the B1G hadn't done better than the SEC in terms of Texas recruiting for a while now. But with NIL?? I expect that to change too, just like the illusion that the SEC is the "be all end all"...

UConn and the State of CT will need to decide whether they want to play major college athletics or stay in the BE with the small private type schools and not compete on a National Level.
I think we already know that answer. You only have to look at our Hartford Whalers. The state has never had any appetite for thinking big. No new civic center was ever built, the pathetic Rensselaer stadium instead of an on campus stadium, and now putting lipstick on a 30 year old pig with a new scoreboard at Gampel and nothing else.

If there was a way to -1000 this post, I would. Take your cheap shots at Connecticut somewhere else.

The guy referred to it as "Rensselaer Stadium". I don't think we have to pay that post much attention...

sorry all you spelling bee proctors. Rentschler Field. Feel better? I didn’t check the autocorrect before I sent it. Nothing I stated is incorrect, nothing. If all you can do it nitpick, you are truly myopic. By the way, how is the 60 year road construction project in the downtown Hartford mixmaster going? It’s never been completed.

Look at this proposal, merged ACC and B12 with UConn included. UConn would be in a pod with BC, Syracuse and Pitt. Knumbskull and Couz discuss.

Added: UConn
Excluded: FSU, Clemson, ND
I'm in!
There are a few programs who may think they are too good for it or who get picked up by P2. If so, here are the sub potentials

Miami, UNC, UVA
USF, ECU, Memphis

That would be awesome! It would be a nationwide conference with eyeballs in every time zone and access to recruiting in every major region. It would cut down on travel for the student athletes. It would be awesome for fans with games that are easier to get to and rivalries that actually mean something. Travel for non-football/basketball sports could be much more manageable as besides your "pod" there is another 1 or two that are not too far away. Conference tournaments would be awesome.

football would be awesome, those were always fun games

ACC potential option. This is just my own concoction of course. Change happens quickly yet programs want some stability and the ACC seems to be the biggest band of strange bedfellows. This assumes the general consensus, Big Ten and SEC will be the P2, ACC and Big 12 will be the next Powerful 2, and then everyone else.

The ACC proposes an initiative to get to 24 programs and if you want in, you are in. If you want out, get out. Certain programs that want out have a get out of jail free card and a clean break and everyone moves on.

If you want in the ACC, you have 2 or 3 options, and as an example:

2 Year Silver Members - Commit 2 years, receive $20 million annually minimum, exit fees are astronomical
5 Year Gold Members - Commit 5 years, receive $40 million annually minimum, exit fees are very stiff
10 Year Platinum Members - Commit 10 years, receive $60 million annually minimum, exit fees are substantial

All current 18 members including ND are offered membership along with say another 10 programs, first come first serve.
UConn, USF, Memphis, Tulane, Temple, Kansas, OSU, WVU, Cincy, Houston, Texas Tech, Arizona
We know everyone would jump to the Big Ten or SEC if invited but maybe 6-8 have a legit shot. It's time to ante up. You are really only competing with the Big 12 and you have the east coast locked up bleeding westerly.

I don't see the SEC or Big 10 raiding the Big 12 again, and other than UNC and Virginia, I don't think there is anyone in the ACC that either of the P2 wants. This creates stability for both the ACC and Big 12. Without a need to do anything, any deal the Big 12 or ACC offer a new member is going to be pretty lean.

I do think that if something bigger happened, like a Big East and ACC merger or a split of football from other sports, there could be a window for a better deal.

I agree. Things are very stable at the moment. I do believe there are more valuable properties in addition to UNC and UVA in both the ACC and Big 12. I tend to value the Corner 4 more than others here but that's a different debate. That along with other CR variables will cause pressure on the equilibrium which is all we can hope for. No one really seems to know what the end game is.
