Might try and reread 'The Stand.' it's only fitting.
Went to Joblot this morning and that is exactly what they are doing for hand sanitizer and non medical plastic gloves. Very good idea.Friends are telling me that the Walmarts, Targets and others the shelves are barren. Even toilet paper is scooped up. Why not implement a minimum purchase amount in times like these?
Panic has set in.
Scum bags
My daughters dance school and gymnastics was cancelled earlier this weekMy daughter has dance class on Mondays - 5 kids plus instructor, we're still going to that. Library is closed so our weekly trip is on hold - probably a good thing as who sanitizes books? Wife is working from home. I am not and even if I have the option to WFH I might go in as I can sit in my office and don't really need to come into contact with people in person. Not sure about the gym moving forward, I went yesterday and carried the spray bottle around with me. I run outdoors so at least half the time I'm covered. Also not sure about going to restaurants - we normally eat out 1-2 times on the weekends. I'm also heading to the store today to find some art projects for the kids as the next two weeks are going to be challenging.
My SO's granddaughter's first gymnastics meet scheduled for today was cancelled. My daughters dance school and gymnastics was cancelled earlier this week
I know. Who buys a car that color?
TBH, I'd prefer a maximum purchase amount. Why not implement a minimum purchase amount in times like these?
You are correct there is an economic disaster that is developing as a result of the steps people are currently taking.Indeed. And this is why EVERYONE should resist the "OMG everyone stay home" nonsense with every fiber of their being. If everyone does, it's all over. Quite literally.
I see it as an easy decision. You shut everything down now flattening the spread as much as you can. Two weeks of serious pain is a whole lot better than a year of it.You are correct there is an economic disaster that is developing as a result of the steps people are currently taking.
You are not correct that the precautions are meritless. At best it's an unknown. At worst the curve is not flattened, the medical system gets overwhelmed, and people who could have been saved die because there is not enough equipment to handle a rapid and extensive spread. Events will play out quickly. Somewhere between two weeks and two months we should know who is correct.
I don't agree with your assessment although I hope you are correct. If you think an economic disaster is happening now what type of panic will set in if people are dying because hospitals cannot see patients? That's the situation in certain areas within Italy.
There were zero people world wide who had any immunity to this variation of the virus. That plus the extremely high contagion rate is the risk that you are ignoring.
I just heard NYC had their first death. Maybe that’ll finally push him over the edge.Meanwhile our idiot NYC mayor refuses to close NYC schools. Not sending my daughter to class on Monday.

The generalization about old people is accurate. Even the group around 55 years old tend to have less global idealism than people in their 20's and 30's. That percentage significantly decreases with people older than 80. But the underlying default of humanity as exemplified by your angry statement stays the same. People are magnanimous up to a point. Self interest or survival is endemic to most individuals. The only difference between you and a myopic senior is how you prioritize various issues. So basically we're canceling a world meant for young people in order to protect old people who will continue to vote to ruin our planet, segregate our country, and wreck our economy from themselves.
There's people like you? "People" is plural.'You are correct there is an economic disaster that is developing...'
ehh, not so fast. mebbe, mebbe not. while I have no firm opinion on that yet, I do like to listen to folks who are way smarter than me. one brilliant observer of 'the economic scene' is gene marks, who along with a bunch of other stuff he does, is now a business writer for the guardian, which mostly comes across as a commie rag for folks like me. gene ain't no commie. specifically, and on john bachelor's show the other day (ol' gene been talking there a long, long time), he noticeably said that, to his eyes, he won't even say that it's certain we'll (as in us, USA) be going into recession. idk, but when that guy, with his rep, says that, well, people like me listen.
thank you. thank you very little. at least I don't have 4 azzes like that fear monger over in another thread. hey wait! i just figgered something out! 4 azzes? fear monger? that's where all the bathroom tissue is going! thank you for playing a part in my enlightenment! There's people like you? I used developing for a reason. To be clear if two weeks of isolation whether warranted or not results in the limitation of this disease from overwhelming our medical system and the disease rapidly ends, there will be very limited economic impacts. If this runs two months and our medical system gets over run during any part of that cycle the economic consequences can't be anything but severe. It would be hard for people not to see that. Given that we have no way of knowing the extent of the spread forecasting is limited. My opinion is that the slow federal response increased the odds of the latter outcome but does not guarantee that outcome.'You are correct there is an economic disaster that is developing...'

I haven’t left the house since last Thursday evening. Went to mbb game @Gampel. So. Glad I did. My son did grocery shopping today from a list I gave him. Called me twice . Took him over 2hrs came home with 1/4th of items. Saved me a to of $$$$.my other sons and my 2 grandsons are got cooks. Me, not so much. I hate cooking and so does this son.
You're preaching to the choir. I'll go one step further. The reaction outside of the U.S. was strong enough to take the situation seriously. We had been fortunate to see development of this problem elsewhere. The slow reaction in this country was egregious imo. We've increased the odds of having a worse case scenario.I see it as an easy decision. You shut everything down now flattening the spread as much as you can. Two weeks of serious pain is a whole lot better than a year of it.
We're way late on this but still have to minimize the spread.
Someone is a proud mom. And rightfully so.I should add a PSto my last post. He is a great mechanic. I have a 2004 Sentra I bought. Used, which has never been inside a shop except for an oil change. It has 213000 miles on it and still running strong and my grandson drove it for several years.
People are going crazy staying home. Where are you going to go?. They drive around endlessly going nowhere. Every kind of entertainment is closed. Was looking forward to AAC tournies = gone, tv sucks,n movies gone, restaurants are open and more or less begging for business. Even the casinos, I heard are closed except for the table games. Chinese love the table games, would it be poetic justiceIndeed. And this is why EVERYONE should resist the "OMG everyone stay home" nonsense with every fiber of their being. If everyone does, it's all over. Quite literally.
