Yeah because URI has an incredible upside as the distant #2 in the state. Did you know that not once but twice the Rhode Island legislature passed a resolution commending Providence for earning an NCAA spot and wishing them success in the tourney when URI, the State university, also qualified. No such resolution was passed for the Rams until it was pointed out by the media a few days later. That is the pecking order in the Ocean State for college basketball.
Don't bother with Strawmaster. He was an Ollie sycophant, until the evidence against KO finally became too much. Since then he's switched it up to it's okay to fire Ollie but it doesn't matter because UConn can never attract a decent coach again.

Get your irrational optimism out of here, it’s honestly sad watching you create an alternate reality because you can’t handle the real world.

Neither program won a title two years after hire, one year after post season ban. Whether you like it or not, that buys a coach significant leeway.

For contrast at a similar program, Tubby Smith's title at UK bought him 10 years.
By the way, the Tubby Smith example ain’t even close. Yes both won championships in their first years with other guys’ player. But in the other 9 years Tubby went to the NCAA tourney 9 times with a six sweet 16s and 4 Elite 8s. Ollie 1 time with an 2nd round exit. That is what earned him 10 years at Kentucky. Ollie should never be mentioned in the same sentence with Tubby.

One of the worst things that’s come of this ongoing disaster is that it’s given the media the UConn narrative they were hoping for.
Yep blood in the water

Precisely. I’m not surprised freescooter missed that. He and his buddies are so emotionally wrecked by the whole situation that they can’t think straight.
What other schools do you think will be going after him?

The FAN in the afternoon is bad but Michael Kay is almost as terrible. You can’t listen to TIC so it’s music all the time now.

If you are talking as a pure coach, sure, but you're leaving out the relative expectations for each program. UK is a Final Four or bust program. Finishing in the Sweet 16 for them is like missing the tournament. Elite 8 for them is UCONN's first round exit. The natives are getting restless with Calipari right now for gods sake. And they are number 2 to Duke's number 1 in MCBB destinations. That's absurd.

UCONN, post realignment, is not anywhere close to that.

This is not an argument to give Ollie a longer leash. Just that it's a different place expectation-wise.

Nobody on WFAN's ever spent 5 minutes talking about Rutgers, for whatever that's worth. (Nothing.)

If you want to get technical about it sure they have. Mike and Chris ‘coached’ the Rutgers spring game and when Carlin was producing M&M while doing RU play by play the Scarlet Knights came up plenty.

A lot of those terms describe WFAN post-Francesa. That’s a bleak lineup they are sitting on.

When Evan Roberts is your best host - yikes.

Your right as a dedicated WFAN listener since 1988-89(5th grader) post Sports Pope is a disaster. The Morning show is not as good without Craig Carton, and the three knuckleheads replacing Francesa are clearly pressing. At least Francesa had a love/hate relationship with Calhoun( which ended in mutual respect and friendship).

Your also right its a bad sign with Evan Roberts or Richard Neer are your best hosts. Tune into 770 and listen to the Sid Rosenburgh and Bernie show from 9-noon, then somehow wait till 3:00pm for Mad Dog....

WFAN is unlistenable now. It’s a hot mess. Boomer can’t carry by himself...afternoon francesa replacements are uninteresting and over their head. Took it off the presets in the car as there is absolutely no reason to return.

Joe & Evan are solid.

Do you think these schools will offer more money than us?

I’m certain that due to a confluence of factors, we will be offering nowhere near as much money as we did to Ollie.

I'm like 99% sure Moore is a UConn fan. I have heard him talk UConn hoops before.
Still have no idea if he's a UConn fan or not, but he definitely tweets about them a lot. I thought he was a fan, but going through his tweets he's been negative about UConn even when they were good. And his immediate reaction to the Jalen Adams Cincy shot was that the refs made a mistake and the shot shouldn't have counted. And plenty of predictions that have not been right

For contrast at a similar program, Tubby Smith's title at UK bought him 10 years.

In Tubby's 9 years post-championship, he won 22 games and made it to the 2nd round of the NCAAT every year, including 5 Sweet 16's and 3 Elite 8's, and won their conference regular season 4 times.

In KO's 4 years post-championship, he won 22 games and made the 2nd round once, and hasn't finished better than 6th in the AAC.

Does he realize the irony of the fact that his station is basically in the same situation as we are?

We have no jockey. We don't have a horse in the race.

Yes excuse grads are all over the airwaves but remember this: the head coach is a nose picking sex offender cover up who has half the rings as does Tyler. The jealousy is not misplaced.

And he ended his rant with "Just like St. John's and New York City hoops." [But with more championships].
Wrong week to say that after they beat Duke and Villanova.
