BC does deliver at least some of the Chestnut Hill market.

BCU being so bad in football actually hurts us in getting a P4 offer. The rest of the country views New England as a hockey hot bed. There are very few football recruits in New England, thus no reason to invite any team from New England

I'm not so sure about that. There was an article about NE being a football hotbed with all the prep schools. And even if there aren't so many recruits, the Northeast has viewers. It's clear bcu has done squat for the ACC but it's a private school with no support. UConn as the biggest flagship brand in New England is an entirely different story.

The prep schools are the a huge help in all sports. If we had a P2 affiliation we’d take a ton of those players. Not sure a P4 designation is what we’d always hoped. I’m kind of disheartened that our best lifeline is most likely a bid to a “power” conference with no power at all.

Yeah P2 designation working wonders for Rutgers. lol The issue is New England and most of the North East just does not have that atmosphere that the South and Midwest has for college football. College football is a religion in the South.

What has happened in the ACC will drive the CFP in the future to just take the top 12 ranked teams. Of course that would make it near to imposiible for G6 to make the CFP. There goes Mora’s dreams. Lol
Particularly if Duke wins... if Duke wins there's a very real chance the ACC ends up with 0 teams in the field (even more so if BYU wins the Big XII)

You just know Sankey and Petitti have their speeches ready for when Duke wins and gets left out of the CFP. This is their you-know-what dream. They can now call it a de facto P2 out loud.

The end result of this is the ACC will move Playoff Poll rank to the top of the tiebreaker list (much as the conferences used to put the highest BCS ranking in the tiebreak); and eliminate things like common opponent.

One thing that I've seen suggested that i don't believe voukd happen is no ACC schools and two G level schools.

I cannot see them justifying two G level champions at the cost of a P level, even if it is legitimately warranted as it would set a very dangerous precedent that they would want nothing to do with.

Yes, eventually this will be primarily P-2 schools with a few non P-2's sprinkled in for alleged fair access, but they aren't going to give any additional access to G level schools, even now, before the P-2's started lining up every at-large spot.

Never Again No GIF by ABCNT

I live in Boston as some other people here on the BoneYard. I can tell you and they can also tell you BC is a tiny blip, if that, on the attention of any Boston sports fan.
And 70% of that blip is the Beanpot.

If it weren't for their men's ice hockey team the city of Boston wouldn't know BC existed.

The bottom of the league had an outsized impact on the tiebreakers by dragging down the other teams and dragging down the conference opponents record of everyone else. Duke ended up 4 wins clear of everyone else's conference opponent record.

While they didn't beat any of the good teams, they're schedule had enough mediocre teams to pass everyone else, simply by avoiding playing the bottom (FSU, UNC, Va. Tech, Syracuse & BC); everyone else played at least 3 of them. Duke also benefitted by being the only team to face Virginia among the tie, giving them a bonus win (while SMU got hammered by only facing one of the other tied teams).

Duke (opponent wins 32)
Miami (28) (ahead of Georgia Tech with common opponent win over Pitt)
Ga. Tech (28)
SMU (27) (ahead of Pitt with common opponent win over Miami)
Pitt (27)

We aren’t Rutgers. We have a much better fan base. Not sure if you were around during our Big East football days, but it was fantastic. I’m in Florida and I am in a family of Florida and FSU fans. I’ve been to a lot of games. UConn would show out just fine in a P2. Our fans simply want to play football at a championship level. That’s what happens when you pile up natties in other sports. If we play big time football, we will have a big time fan experience. The Duke game showed you everything you need to know. Send a competitive team out to play a decent brand name competitor and the stadium is near full and the crowd is great. Give us a steady diet of that and we’ll be sold out all the time.

Plus it's all really relative. Not to defend rutgers, but it jumped into the Big freaking Ten. I don't think anyone expected rutgers to win the conference except maybe some of their fans but it's not getting blown out every weekend. It just missed going bowling by 4 points to PSU.

Now look at Va Tech, syracuse, bcu, wvu. just awful this year. Throw in Pitt, Cinci, Louisville, Temple. All of these programs would have benefited by keeping together a more regional football conference rather than splintering off to 4 different conferences. These football programs in the Northeast/North Atlantic would have been just fine.

yeah I disagree. But it is a moot point anyway since UConn is not getting a P2 invite. Just like another 90 or so FBS schools.
