Welp, ACC stays together with a new agreement (LINK)

And people think FSU doesn't have a landing spot. I was sure FSU would have been like, "Thanks for the unequal revenue distribution and the bargain basement exit fee, See Ya!!!!"

They don’t have a place to go.

Based on the past 15 years or so, it is evident that the P2 conferences and the ACC do not want us. That leaves the Big 12 as our only P4 option. I was really hoping for that, but now I wonder if that still in our best interest. Fans love the Big East rivalries, football schedules interesting games (and is playing well), and many of our programs are performing really well. Maybe we can survive with our current model with big-time investments in NIL?

We can’t. And anyone who says they “love” the Big East has succumb to false nostalgia.

I think you have to keep trying until there is no longer even the slightest chance of moving elsewhere. The Big East is fine for every team in it not named UConn. They don’t have to meet the financial obligation of paying 85-105 football players. This money is coming out of the media deals for P4 Schools. You won’t be raising it through outside NIL collectives.

Or in our case from the fine taxpayers of the state of Connecticut.

Where are Clemson and FSU going, exactly?
I have connections to SEC news and they are not looking for either Clemson or Florida St. South Carolina and Florida would have to sign off on it and they are in no hurry to do that.

How ironic would it be if all the time money and effort the two of them sink into breaking the GOR results in the ACC losing other top conference teams, while they are stuck in a weakened, devalued conference with no where else to go? The only thing that would actually make it sweeter is if they also got smaller shares due to the unequal conference distribution scheme they pushed for.

How reliable are these connections? How strong is their interest in VA Tech and UNC/NCST?

Really good and connected to Ole Miss. They are in no hurry to add any teams after adding Oklahoma and Texas.

FSU wants to be in the SEC so bad and they'll never be in the SEC. I don't see Florida letting it happen. The Big 10 won't bite because FSU isn't good academically...so that leaves, the Big 12? Do they offer something better than the ACC? Probably not.

I always thought it was stupid for Clemson and FSU to try to leave the ACC. They should have worked on trying to make it the best league possible. They are their own worst enemies.

With the Big 12 media rights being up for renewal prior to the ACC, the ACC may get aggressive and try to poach a few Big-12 teams?

Looks to me that the strong football schools in the ACC decided that there isn't enough money flowing to keep them competitive with their perceived peers in the the BIG and the SEC. Thus, a special payout scheme had to be concocted. This institutionalized inequality will eventually be the end of the ACC. It may work short term, but the BIG and the SEC are going to keep financially separating themselves from the others in the so-called "P conferences", including the ACC,

Regarding UConn, our ticket out of the BE doldrums will be the "monetization" of March Madness by the marquee BB brands. Then we become attractive to any of the "P conferences". Expect a fight from the NCAA because MM is the only way that organization stays afloat. BB doesn't move the needle very much now because the NCAA gloms the lion's share of MM revenue. I'd bet the SEC and the BIG already are salivating about taking over MM. The other lesser "P conferences" should take notice of this and add UConn to help get seats at the table. Otherwise, the P-2 will end up in the financial "catbird seat" and the rest of the "P conferences" and any other marquee BB brands will enter a nuclear winter.

Seems odd that ND would want to be locked into Clemson when it is already obligated to play ACC teams every year.

Perhaps I'm ignorant, but could someone please explain why you guys seem to actively cheer for the ACC to fail?

"Brands and non-brands" ?????
wtf is that? how on earth would that work?

To make less money?
The ACC makes more money than the BigXII. At some point, y'all will need to come to terms we're the fact that the ACC isn't in the danger you think it's in. Never really has been.

What Clemson-ACC settlement documents reveal about Tigers’ future in league

Here are recently released details of the agreement.

Interesting point --- the 60% revenue distribution (75% football and 25% men's basketball) is NOT based on team success for the ACC members. It's based on viewership. If FSU goes 1-11 again, but has more viewers than every other team, FSU will be paid more than every other team.

Even if a school like Wake Forest has a strong season, if no one is watching, they won't be paid more (unless the make the CFB playoffs) and will be paid less than teams with worse records that have more viewers.
