ACC schools aren't leaving for the BigXII. BigXII schools might leave for the ACC.
I suspect that if there wasn't an opportunity at the ACC they would have excepted a big 12 invite. They were scrambling because the PAC got relegated.I don’t think Stanford and Cal look at it from a travel perspective. They want to be associated with like-minded institutions. They pushed hard to get into the B1G. When that didn’t work out, the ACC was the next best option. I don’t think either school realistically considered the Big 12 and I don’t think either school ever will.
That's just it Stanford & Cal were left behind by the Big XII. There wasn't an invite forthcoming at that point... they either could've stayed with Washington St. & Oregon St. and tried to rebuild the Pac or taken the reduced payout offer they took from the ACC... those were their options.Q: In hindsight, would Stanford and Cal choose the ACC over the Big 12 given their reduced payout and travel?
When you realize that SMU was in the American until 2024 and that's at a significant competitive disadvantage, it gives you a sense of the suck that is Boston College and Wake Forest. Hard to believe that they get to walk out with a golden ticket.ACC TV Ratings: 2019-2024

And people think FSU doesn't have a landing spot. I was sure FSU would have been like, "Thanks for the unequal revenue distribution and the bargain basement exit fee, See Ya!!!!"ACC TV Ratings: 2019-2024

Well, that would explain their new branding campaign...It's worse than that.
When you consider that BC is smack dab in the middle of an almost 5 million population metro area, you realize that their level of suck out-sucks all other sucks that are out there...
BC might've lucked into a decent football coach. Time will tell. It's worse than that.

Good summary of the history.![]()
Column: How hubris and complacency brought ACC to brink of destruction
Gene Corrigan's vision of Florida State leading ACC football to national relevance was thwarted by years of financial mismanagement and neglect.www.tomahawknation.com

We can’t. And anyone who says they “love” the Big East has succumb to false nostalgia.Based on the past 15 years or so, it is evident that the P2 conferences and the ACC do not want us. That leaves the Big 12 as our only P4 option. I was really hoping for that, but now I wonder if that still in our best interest. Fans love the Big East rivalries, football schedules interesting games (and is playing well), and many of our programs are performing really well. Maybe we can survive with our current model with big-time investments in NIL?
I think you have to keep trying until there is no longer even the slightest chance of moving elsewhere. The Big East is fine for every team in it not named UConn. They don’t have to meet the financial obligation of paying 85-105 football players. This money is coming out of the media deals for P4 Schools. You won’t be raising it through outside NIL collectives.Based on the past 15 years or so, it is evident that the P2 conferences and the ACC do not want us. Or in our case from the fine taxpayers of the state of Connecticut. This money is coming out of the media deals for P4 Schools. You won’t be raising it through outside NIL collectives.
I have connections to SEC news and they are not looking for either Clemson or Florida St. South Carolina and Florida would have to sign off on it and they are in no hurry to do that.Where are Clemson and FSU going, exactly?
How ironic would it be if all the time money and effort the two of them sink into breaking the GOR results in the ACC losing other top conference teams, while they are stuck in a weakened, devalued conference with no where else to go? The only thing that would actually make it sweeter is if they also got smaller shares due to the unequal conference distribution scheme they pushed for.I have connections to SEC news and they are not looking for either Clemson or Florida St. South Carolina and Florida would have to sign off on it and they are in no hurry to do that.
How reliable are these connections? How strong is their interest in VA Tech and UNC/NCST?I have connections to SEC news and they are not looking for either Clemson or Florida St. South Carolina and Florida would have to sign off on it and they are in no hurry to do that.
