You are correct, and this has been bothering me because I am pretty sure Pikiell and I were both on the floor.
I think Pikiell actually played for St. Paul HS as an 8th grader in the 81-82 season. Probably he had already applied and been accepted and was scheduled to be an incoming freshman at SPHS in Sept. 1982.
This did happen occasionally, and I do remember he was way advanced for an 8th grader, dunking and with guard skills.
This is all based on memory--possibly faulty--but if someone else from the Bristol area has the facts then I would love to know.
