There's like five 45 year old "10s" on the entire planet. Good luck finding one.
You don't get out much I take it? Try loosening your perfect standards a little.

Edsall has a track record.

Norries Wilson Rob Ambrose Joe Moorhead Rhett Lashlee. All really good - frankly

Not a TJ Weist or Verducci in the mix (I kid)

I think this guy HCRE knows what he’s doing. Plus add in a Todd Orlando ... and admit. He’s got a solid evaluation skill set on Coordinating coaches.
i don't remember ambrose or moorehead having the greenlight to run the offense they preferred.
my concern isn't with Dunn. it's Randy returning to his old ways and being a control freak.
is Dunn going to challenge randy? is randy going to basically tell dunn how to do his job?

Lol only someone who never gets out thinks that there is some abundance of 10s in the world. You’re talking about .1% of the female population

Do you walk with a cane and carry a tin cup? They're all over the place, my gym is loaded with them, most are divorced or not, these days it doesn't matter. You should get on your mobility scooter and take a drive.

Loosening your standards is saying "I'd take a 7," not "that 48-year-old cocktail waitress wearing a Copper Fit sleeve is a 10," which really means "that 48-year-old cocktail waitress kind of looks like 90s Sharon Stone if I take my glasses off and drink 16 beers."

You're the Nigel Tufnel of the Boneyard.

We clearly have different standards than "Cougar Hunter" Rob.

You need to mix with the population, join a gym or a dating site and stop pretending you're Nomar. You can keep your standards and good luck with them.

I don't need to join a dating site. I'm married to a 31-year-old who you'd probably say is a "17."

Guys like BlueDogs drive me crazy
Knows absolutely zero about the guy but is quick to say terrible hire
Like a little kid who takes his bat and goes home when he can't have his way
To me, Lashlee wasn't all he was built up to be and now we have a guy with broader experience than Lashlee and is a proven recruiter - something Lashlee was not .
None of us knows if Lashlee or Dunn is going to be the next coming of God but if RE likes it, AD David Benedict puts his approval stamp on it then lets give it a test drive.
Everything I have read about this guy is very positive - both on the collegiate and pro levels - better perspective than a guy who followed the same coach and was most likely shown the door at Auburn and then runs "home" to the ole South.
WELCOME COACH
best of luck and gets us some studs
You miss the point. He might end up being great. I hope he is an offensive genius and I'll keep an open mind and support the guy.

The reason he's a bad hire, nonetheless, is because this program needs proven, capable coaches and can't afford more experiments that fail. Crocker failed miserably in year 1. So, that is a major repair job in itself. Add a no experience OC to the mix and you've got to wonder. But for some signs of life through Lashlee's O and Grimes' work on what was a hopelessly broken OL before he started getting them reasonably sound, there would be not a ray of hope. If we want to be a P5 level program go get known quality and competence rather than putting some RE buddy with no experience by the wheel. My position stands: bad hire because we are gambling.

It's a failing program, in a broke state, roll the dice. Can't be any worse than BD offense. If he fails we lose him after a year and learn a lesson. If he succeeds we have an explosive offense. I like your point. Trust edsall he's been there before and AD dave approved it so obviously he shows some promise.

Edsall has a good track record in this area so he gets the benefit of the doubt.
Many yarders wanted someone young who wasn't a retread, they should be happy.

Dream big, for all we know this might be the next Chip Kelly or Joe Moorhead.

Nah I just take a more statistically population-representative approach to it. The middle 68% should comprise of 4, 5, and 6. The first standard deviation above that average range is for 7s and 8; second standard deviation is top 2%; and then 10s are like geniuses of beauty, in that third standard deviation of the top .1%.

While for him, every chick whose sight makes his thirsty weenie tickle a bit is a 10

Welcome to the Dog Pound, John!!!

Positives:

1) NFL experience
2) Former QB
3) Recruiting coordinator experience
4) Previous coaching history with Edsall

Does this feel like it did when we heard the name "Lashlee"? No. But I'm gonna stick with that list above and then let the results dictate the assessment. Let's go get em, John....

Also his previous geographic area recruiting footprint/contacts are right where we need them to be:

Recruiting Area (from when @ UMD)

Primary: Maryland, Central and Eastern Pennsylvania, North Carolina (Charlotte), Southwest Florida and Southern New Jersey

Secondary: Kentucky, Louisiana, Tennessee and North Carolina

Local: Anne Arundel County, Eastern Shore, Frederick County and Carroll County

Very predictable. Edsall wants an offense that protects his defense. He thinks that defense and kicking win games. That was his formula previously UConn.

That said, if Dunn's recruiting prowess continues at UConn, we will all enjoy the fruits of his labor.

Sad, that was the same philosophy that Bob Diaco had. And, sad too that what UConn continues to need in the AAC is an explosive offense that can score lots of points and a defense that slow down opponents offense enough to let the offense win the game. That is AAC football.

He has plenty of recruiting experience it’s the lack of play calling and OC experience that’s a downer for me. All we can do is hope he works out but this will only excite the Confident Carl’s of the world who would crap rainbows if we hired Kim Jung Un as OC.
Kim Jung Un's a pretty explosive signal caller...

We have zero clue as to what this guy’s offense will look like. None. Your assumptions are based off of nothing.

Wrong. My assumptions are based on knowing Randy. Randy 2.0 was an improvement this past year on offense, but as the defensive play became totally inept, he began to protect it by slowing down the offense. For the long term UConn will need an explosive offense and a defense that can slow down and frusrate opposing offenses enough to let the offense win the game. This is AAC football. Just want to avoid reverting back to Run right, run left, run up the middle offense that was REs playbook.

Bob Diaco had his best years under Coach Kelly. Who knows Coach Edsall and Dunn could be the next dynamic duel. You have to start somewhere, give the guy a chance, if he does great he's gone. The never ending revolving door of the AAC.
