Lashlees play calling left a lot to be desired, so I’m not really worried. Waaaay to many delayed inside handoffs to newsome on third and medium in our opponents territory

I totally agree. I would love to see more slant throws or TE action next year. Our TE weren’t used too much which worried me with Lashlee play calling.
 
I think that RE deserves the benefit of the doubt, and is a better judge of football playing and coaching talent than anyone on this board. I would like to hear NOCJD talk about his offensive philosophies. Also, RE referred to some things that JD picked up in watching film that would have improved our offensive performance.
 
I'm confident that this will work out. The OC's main role is to design the offense. We are already hearing about running some plays from a huddle and from under center (along with the no huddle), which to me adds to the diversity of the offense and provides more looks and more opportunities to exploit the defense. Good points made about the TE being underused. Rose might be as athletic as anyone who has played that position here. Also think the OLine with continue to improve and could be really good. We might see people get knocked off the ball again. The offense is going to be good. I also like his recruiting experience.

We will also be seeing a lot of freshman starting on defense this year. The O will need to protect them, score points and at times, eat some clock. The D will have some hitters, which will result in more turnovers, but they will be vulnerable. They should be better by bowl season!

What I want to see is to win one more game than the year before. In the near future I wouldn’t be surprised if we are bowl eligible almost every season.
 
Obviously Dunn won't have much impact on the upcoming February signing but I'll be curious to see who he can attract from now til the December signing day.

knowing that UConn Nation got a decent taste to a fast paced offense for really the first time in their young D-1 history, I'm wondering how Dunn's offense will continue that trend as even Coach Edsall admits that is the way of present day college football. The guy hasn't coached a game yet in Huskyland so patience once again is needed. I just hope the offense can adapt to yet another OC. Every year there is a new one. Lets hope this guy sticks around long enough to get some continuity going.

Those eyes where started from when Isaiah Thomas was in Boston. Every time something good happened to the Celtics like trades etc. he always tweeted with those eyes.

Does anyone know what kind of passing concepts he is familiar with? e.g. air raid, west coast, run n shoot, etc?
 
He's got quite the skill for literature. Don't know too many OC's who can write like this.

If he was a coach at LSU, maybe he knows what he's going to do...Now, since the OLine was porus last season, maybe he can get the line to BLOCK!

I see a lot of people hung up on Rhett's play calling and if Coach Dunn can compare. All I keep thinking is Remember the Titans when Denzel says, "I run 7 plays. It's like novocaine, just give it time, it'll work." Yes I know that's a very simplified Hollywood quote, but it plays to the notion that execution is key. If you execute the play how it's supposed to be done, the defense still has to defend it even if they know what's coming. It turns into, who wants it more? 3-2 count with bases loaded.. and the batter knows Mariano is throwing that cutter. Mariano would put the pitch where it needed to be and the batter would still swing through it and look silly. Seems like a coach that will bring a balance and mix things up. Hurry up, huddle up, under center, shot gun. With the experience in the NFL and college he seems like a coach that has a wide array of exposure to the game on offense and would be able to keep the defense off balance with different looks and personnel match-ups. I'm cautiously optimistic on this and will give him the benefit of the doubt and see what he can do before putting him on a pedestal or in a hole. Is it the sexiest hire that people were looking for? Not really, but for the salary offered, some big name hot shot wasn't going to waltz through the door.

If you talk to a defensive coordinator most will tell you it's not the number of plays that makes it hard to plan for, it's the number of formations. with how deep rosters are and how many players are shuffling in and out, matching personnel against a HUNH style offense can be a challenge.

considering he has a record of working with TE's, hopefully he can get them involved in the offense.

I'm excited about the prospect of having Rose and Davis on the field at the same time. Might be able to switch between 10-11-12 personnel looks without actually substituting.

I think the southwestern Florida area would be a great area to recruit.. It and the panhandle are the underrated parts of Florida...Kentucky and Tennessee I'd love to expand our recruitment area...

I think people are sleeping on Davis as a receiving TE. He should definitely be able to play a part in whatever Dunn cooks up on that front.

He was the perfect body type for an outside receiver in the misdirection & vertical passing offense that Lashlee ran. In a different system he may not be an ideal wideout. I think keeping him in the box with another TE lined up can create a great mismatch in the middle.
