Let's ask Taylor Twellman for his thoughts on seeing ACC coach of the year frontrunner Wes Moore lead his team to an 8-minute scoreless stretch in 4Q, then burn his last timeout to set up a defense that doesn't defend the simple lob pass to 6'6" with 2 seconds left.

14 is a word number to chose.. When I see an oddball number like that, it makes me curious, 4, 8, 10, 16, 20, 25 are the usual cutoff. Sorry, I don’t mean anything by my curious observation

#15 Utah lost, so it was cleaner to leave them out

Closing out last week's play of top 25 teams, there were 10 losses by 9 teams (WVA x2) - NCSU, Utah, ND, Marquette, Creighton, FSU, TCU, WVA, and Syracuse, with two teams losses by our Huskies. This equals the first week of the season when #1 LSU, #2 UConn, 7 OSU, 8 VA Tech, 9 Indiana, 10 ND, 1 Tenn, 12 Ole Miss, 14 MD, and 23 IL all lost. Week 4 was also up there with 9 teams losing, and three of them lost 2x - Ole Miss, Tenn, and Miss St.

My guess is that there won't be much shuffling in the top 14 or so, however we could see a bit of movement in the bottom 11, as that's where all but one (#3 NCSU to #12) loss took place. Others receiving votes (W&L in paren) were North Carolina 49 (2W), Washington 36 (2L), Oregon St. 19 (2L), Texas A&M 16 (1&1), UNLV 15 (1W), Michigan St. 9 (1L), Michigan 8 (1L), Miami 8 (1&1), Davidson 6 (1&1), Mississippi St. 3 (2L), Vanderbilt 3 (2W).

I'll post a week 10 overview after the AP poll comes out so that it updates the rankings in the game matchups. I'll also have a look at some conference standings, which may make us look and ask, did we see that coming? :)

I was at the Syracuse/BC game last night and it was brutal. Syracuse took 6 minutes to get a basket in Q1 and then sorta started to run away with it in the 2nd half, but in Q4 BC came back to keep the Orange nervous. The amount of missed bunnies in that game from both teams was something else. IMO Syracuse should have won this one going away (as I expected them to). Maybe they were just trying to get back into rhythm after UNC.

Fair looked like her leg was bothering her a bit; she was constantly rubbing/massaging it. But she played basically the whole game. Maybe just muscle soreness and/or cramping. No medical speculation from me, just pointing it out. Cuse really needs her (she scores and facilitates so well), so hopefully it's nothing. :)

My guess is that Cuse stays in the top 25.

UNC goes 9-19 on FTs but manages to edge ND 61-57, who got Citron back but were without Westbeld in concussion protocol.
Syracuse beat ND
UNC beat Syracuse
UNC beat ND

So ... UNC > Syracuse > ND?

It looks like there will be a second team from CT getting votes in the AP poll, this week. After a weekend road sweep of (probably) the two other best MAAC teams, Fairfield stands at 12-1 with a 10-game wining streak.

Ha, nice homer vote by Adamec.

Fairfield's best win is over St. John's, who is #86 in the NET. Next best after that was #152 Rutgers. Nice story for Fairfield to be 12-1 but not quite seeing this as a strong case for top 25 status.

Maybe not top 25, but lots of love for Vanderbilt and Princeton on this board. Fairfield's only loss is to Vanderbilt, on the road, by 3. Both Fairfield (78-54) and Princeton won against Rutgers (66-55). Exciting to see Fairfield's continued success after Lou, with a new coach, and in a league with two recent cinderellas: Marist and Quinnapiac (and last year, Iona set an NCAA record hitting 15 consecutive 3's).

I’m rooting for Vandy but they barely beat a very mediocre FL team at home. I wouldn’t consider the Dores top 30.
