Week 19 Other Games

Here I thought Pitt had this game under control at the half.

Anyone can win the ACC Tournament. Virginia is "meh" for a Top 20 team, Miami is OK, and the rest of the teams are mediocre.

I'm a bit on tape delay, but the end to the Southland final is very fun.

I love this week.

For those who want the best mid-majors in the tournament, the Patriot championship is on now on CBS Sports and Colgate is #1 in the country with a whopping 41.0 3p%!

More on Colgate's highlights:
  • #1 in 41.9 3p%
  • #3 in opponent free throw attempt prevention
  • #7 in 56.9 2p%
  • #13 in 61.4 A/FGM ratio
  • #19 with lowest turnover ratio
  • #19 in defensive rebounding rate

Ohio st in the middle of an epic collapse on big network. Up by 22 with 10 minutes left in game. Down to 5

B1G is interesting. Wisconsin finally off the bubble w/ the loss to OSU. Tomorrow is a Michigan/Rutgers play in game. Loser is certainly NIT bound. Does Penn St get in if they don’t beat Illinois. Probably shouldn’t, but there is an infatuation w/ B1G getting 10 in the tournament

Looks like a potential giant killer

The end of the Seton Hall versus DePaul game was an epic fail by the Hall. Up by 2 with 5 seconds, a bad throw-in gets stolen, then they foul the dude trying for a three-pointer. Three foul shots later and Seton Hall eliminates themselves.

The unsophisticated bettor is thrilled that Wake's final 3 covered 2.5 point spread.

Ended up Seton Hall cost me a few grand in winnings. I had them in a few big parlays and they were the only team which lost. I was concerned about no Kadary, but thought they'd still get it done. No steak dinner for Joe.

Just put on the AAC Tournament first round (ECU vs. USF). I know it's an early game in an early round, but there might be about 200 people in the stands not affiliated with either team (like the bands and the women's teams for each school). I really would've thought it was a 2021 COVID game.

Iowa St sweeps Baylor 3x. Great result for us.
Does this give us a chance to get past Baylor? Coming into today: NET: UConn (7) Baylor (12) KenPom: UConn (4) Baylor (14) BPI: UConn (5) Baylor (12)

Makes our win better and puts a stake in Baylor as a 3 seed.

I think Baylor was 2/3 line, so we still have to do some work to pass them I think. Probably need to win this one and Marquette at least.

Unless a bunch of other Top 15 teams puke on themselves today, Baylor is done. Getting dispatched in the first game of your conference tournament and having a 22-10 record is a bad 3 seed resume. Their computer numbers are not spectacular either. Other good teams are also going to pick up wins this week. It will be tough for Baylor to get a 3.

Lundari (who is overrated) had them as a 2 seed last night. Palm (who is better) this morning had Baylor as the last 3, and that was before they lost today.

FWIW, UConn was the 2nd team on the 3 line for Palm. I agree with @nelsonmuntz. Baylor does not deserve a Top seed getting bounced this early, and finishing with 10 losses.

Baylor was a near unanimous 2 this morning on bracket matrix. They have more quad 1 wins than anyone except kansas and 0 losses outside quad 1. would be very surprised if they fall below 3.

Last night Akok Akok did not play.

Against us Corey Floyd Jr had 7 points, 3 rebounds and an assist.

Good luck Akok and Corey. Thanks for your time at uconn. Go UConn

Pitt having a 14-6 conference record is a great indicator of how bad the ACC sucks this season.
Not as surprising at it seems. They can shoot, and they can shoot 3s. They're not a great defensive team other than Federiko, so no blowouts, but they're capable of winning down the stretch based on offense and FTs. Just not today - Duke manhandled them.

Duke is looking like they sandbagged the first four months of the season. They can make the EE if they play like today, and what they've been doing all March.

Lunardi always makes a ton of changes on Selection Sunday. I think he makes a lot of his earlier projections just to be provocative.
