Week 19 Other Games

Pitt having a 14-6 conference record is a great indicator of how bad the ACC sucks this season.

Also an indication of the ACC's unbalanced schedule. Only got Clemson and UVA once each.

They have their top 5 teams with conference records of 14-6 15-5 and then NC State 12-8 and North Carolina at 11-9. How many bids? Do they suck as a conference or are they all evenly matched and about to do tourney damage?

Uva should have killed any last hope of unc making the tourny so that's cool. Unfortunately Vander Plas (starting PF) broke his hand yesterday and is out for season now...not that any of you were giving uva a sniff before, but definitely puts a hard ceiling on their season now

UNLV just hit a 3 from the corner to tie the game with 1 second left. Not particularly impactful in terms of the bracket, but a fun game nonetheless on CBSSN

Bracketmatrix has UConn almost 50/50 between a 3 and a 4 right now.

I am not saying Bracketmatrix is wrong per se as the committee might really feel that way, but that is bull crap. UConn should be firmly a 3 and if they win against Marquette they should be a 3 tilting towards a 2. How the hell can Baylor be a 2?! They are 20-12 and lost 3 times to Iowa State a team UConn smoked. That is what I am seeing in a lot websites.

UConn got most of what it needed tonight. Beating Marquette tomorrow will go MUCH MUCH further towards improving UConn's seed than beating St. Johns would have.

On a separate note, is there a way to put money on "the Big 10 is going to get slaughtered next Thursday and Friday" right now? How can anyone look at the collection of teams like Illinois, Iowa, Penn State, Northwestern, Michigan State, Maryland, and Rutgers, and not think "Saw B1G", where a bunch of overseeded, mediocre Big 10 teams get massacred by mid-majors and other bubble teams?

Bracketmatrix can't actually "be wrong".

Bracketmatrix is just a listing of the top/most popular/etc brackets out there. Basically of all the bracketologists out there that are good or well known half have UConn as a 3 seed and half have UConn as a 4 seed.

The uniqueness of Penn State is endearing to me.

First off, it's cool how they're lead by fifth-year do-everything guard Jalen Pickett, who somehow is even better at Penn State than he was in his three years at Siena.

Plus, their style is so, for lack of a better word: wacky.
  • 7th in 3PA ratio and 38.9 3p%
  • 4th in turnover ratio
  • dead last in offensive rebounding and free throw ratio

Rutgers is swarming 3 people into the paint every time Edey touches the ball, and it's working early. Up 12-5 after 5 minutes

Rutgers with the 10 point lead on the Boilers with 13 min to go in the first half.
I tuned in just in time to see Purdue take the halftime lead. I didn't even realize I had the BTN.

It would be nice to see Rutgers pull off the upset. Purdue could actually fall to a 3 with a loss.

No matter what most of us will be bleary eyed next Friday night looking at our brackets wondering "WTH just happened? "
"UConn is the 5 seed in the south, where they meet 12 seed College of Charleston in Greensboro". I'm really, really hoping it's nothing like that.

Flipped on the Houston game, where the #1 team in the country, in their conference tourney quarterfinals, is seemingly playing in an almost completely empty arena. My god i do not miss that conference one bit.

Purdue doing everything they can to throw this game away to the Rutgers full court press, but Rutgers just can’t hit their layups. I counted 3 steals that ended in a missed layup or charge in the last few minutes

Looks like Purdue will take it

EDIT: right after I hit send, Rutgers missed another layup lol

FAU in trouble here - gave up two big 3s <1 min to go. Middle Tennessee fouled on the second 3, missed FT to tie, but got the ball back as FAU lost the rebound out of bounds.

Middle Tennessee misses the tying FT on a potential 4 point play with 13 seconds to go. May catch a break and get the ball back on a rebound out of bounds though

Might've just seen the worst layup attempt ever in the ECU-Houston game. Osar caught a pass under the basket, let his defender fly by, then proceeded to... hit the bottom of the rim.
