Week 17 - Feb 26 to Mar 4 (games, conf standings, NET)

TGIF all ya'll! Another crazy night of WBB with some surprises (what the heck UNC?). We're at 7 losses for top 25 teams, with a min of 2 more through the weekend. Here are the conf standings after last night. ACC & Pac12 still a little hazy as to the top 4 byes. Tenn & Alabama still flighting for 4-5th spots. Vandy is a lock at #6 and will play the winner of FL-Missouri.

Conf games left for the teams trying to stay in or get to the top 4:
NCSU/Wake, ND/Louisville, FSU/Clemson, Duke/UNC
Tenn/S Carolina
, AL/TAMU
UCLA/AZ, USC/AZ St, OR St/Cal, CO/WSU, Utah/Wash

No top 25 teams playing today, although both Princeton & Columbia still have to work for that top seed.

Did you notice the red lights were showing up on the goal when that foul was called? NC State had to win that game twice.
Yeah, I don't understand how the review could answer the question of when the foul was committed or when the whistle was blown, especially when it is under a second. But I guess Mark Resch (another one of my favorite refs ) was able to figure it out.

It was confusion in the arena for sure. Never saw a replay at the game. But, 5 free minutes of additional action and still got the W. So alls well that ends well.

Plus Chapel Hill lost to BC. So all is right in the world.

I'm guessing Niele Ivey agrees with you and reminded Soni Citron of that at halftime. After having zero points in the first, she went off for 21 in the second. ND used a combination of Westbeld and Watson to faceguard Kitley and Citron took over on Amoore when it mattered. Citron and Hidalgo are getting to the point of reading each other, like in this play.

Not sure if you saw, but Alissa Pili was a guest on Haley Jones podcast episode that dropped today. Jones asked Pili some rapid fire questions, like “toughest player to guard” “Reagan Beers” or “game winning shot or game winning block” but also asked “Who is the biggest flopper” and Pili said “Bella from WSU” and I thought that was funny since they played today.
Pretty impressive that Pili didn't say Brink, Cardoso, Betts, Marshall. That is how good Raegan Beers is as a sophomore. I hope the seeding committee acknowledges how well Oregon State has played without "the toughest player to guard" according to Alissa Pili.

At the end of the 3rd quarter, Princeton now leads 43-39. Not a very good shooting quarter for either team. But it was a quick one:)

Let me tell yall a little history lesson about the CAA. Last year was NCA&T's first year in the conference. they were picked to finish 9th in the preseason poll. They ended up tied for second place... one game out of 1st place. In this year's preseason poll.. you would think the coaches/media would have learned their lesson. No, they were picked 8th in the preseason poll. According to a recent article in the newspaper, they took it personal. A bulldog with a chip on it's shoulder is a formidable foe.

Well my friends, NC A&T won tonight 69-55 against the Huskies of Northeastern. Sunday they play at Stony Brook for 1st place in the conference. A&T is 12-3, Stony Brook is 13-2. This is the only meeting between the two in the regular season.

Hopefully @BRS24 might consider putting the Showdown between the Aggies and the Seawolves on the Sunday Marquee Schedule :D

GM y'all! Princeton and Columbia took care of business last night and both have two more games vs teams in the lower half of the league. For today and tomorrow, a plethora of games where if no upsets, will keep the waters murky in the Big12 and Pac12, with a whole lotta tie breaks coming into play. Maybe. ;)

You can't offer somebody before they enter the portal.
I understand that, but I thought she, and other Ivy League grad students, could be an exception and already be in the portal. Maybe not, though. While on the subject of an Ivy grad student, it appears Columbia's Abbey Hsu is looking to go pro. Does she stand a good chance of being drafted? I feel certain she'll be able to play somewhere, even if it is overseas.

Does Chen have a UConn offer? I know they're loaded with guards.
Someone posted an article about her on the Main forum and it sorta took off from there, as happens...
I don't think that there is anything official with UConn.
I only posted about her scoring because of that thread.

Well, maybe I'm wrong. I understand Ivy League doesn't allow grad students so it's known they will be elsewhere if they opt to use their extra covid year. Still I would think making contact with a player who is currently on a team is just not what you want happening.

I would expect Hsu to get drafted, whether she sticks on a team I won't venture a guess.

Guys. Can we please stick to the weekly games and other stuff posted here? Perhaps discuss transfers somewhere else?

Can TCU make the tournament with a win today and maybe a couple wins in the conference tournament. They basically lost a lot of games when their roster was truly injured. And they also forfeit some games due to injury so they don't really have 9 losses. Also they have Sedona Prince and Connors back so I do think they would be competitive. I get their OOC schedule was relatively weak, though they did pick up a win vs Nebraska. I just think they should be in the conversation.

Losing 30-12 to WV.
