Week 17 - Feb 26 to Mar 4 (games, conf standings, NET)

Can TCU make the tournament with a win today and maybe a couple wins in the conference tournament. They basically lost a lot of games when their roster was truly injured. And they also forfeit some games due to injury so they don't really have 9 losses. Also they have Sedona Prince and Connors back so I do think they would be competitive. I get their OOC schedule was relatively weak, though they did pick up a win vs Nebraska. I just think they should be in the conversation.
I don't see it. Didn't beat anybody in OOC, lost a lot of conference games. Nothing to hang their hat on. Even 1 or 2 good wins at the end of the season shouldn't be enough IMO.

edit--okay, they beat Nebraska OOC, so they get some credit there, but 6-11 in conference and no wins against any of the even halfway decent Big 12 teams.

This is the play that Andraya Carter loved throughout ESPN desk times because it shows you can be into it, a bit playful and respectful, all at once. She's a joy to watch.
Do you know if UConn wanted HH or was KK their 1st choice for PG from that class?

Let’s see how much voodoo you possess

Should end @Plebe s complaining about the top 16. :)
Serves me right for sticking up for them.

Now it's Washington's turn to cause some bubble drama. Could a team that goes 6-12 in conference and did nothing in the OOC snag a bid?

I would say no. But this bubble is so stinking soft, how many of those teams would be able to claim 3 wins the quality of USC, Oregon St. and Utah, and two of them on the road?

South Dakota St. has already clinched the Summit title. Regular season finale, trying to maintain their perfect record, in a shootout w/ 2nd place North Dakota St. @triaddukefan can we throw out the record book when the Jackrabbits and Bizon tangle?

Why do we keep throwing out record books, retrieving them, and then having to throw them out again?

@nwhoopfan

Thank you for supporting Washington Women's Basketball. It is because of fans and alumni like you that we've been able to build a winning program Husky Nation can be proud of. I know you will join me in feeling great about our chances for a post-season bid after beating a top 20 Utah team today...less than a week after strutting our stuff in beating a top 10 Oregon State team...and who knows, we may end up getting one of the top seeds in the upcoming Womens' National Invitation Tournament.

Not everyone gets invited to the Women's National Invitation Tournament...but rest assured, my fantastic team of assistants and I are already preparing. You won't find traditional powers like Stanford, Connecticut, Texas and NC State getting bids to the Women's National Invitation Tournament this season. But Washington will represent the Pacific Northwest, and the Pac 12 Conference, proudly.

Great things are ahead for Washington Women's Basketball, and I hope you are as excited about the future as I am, and that we can all go on this journey of excellence together, for many, many, many, many years.

Best Regards,

Tina

Washington beats Utah 62-47. I KNEW this team has some talent, that's what makes this year so frustrating. 0-4 against Arizona St. and Cal is just a killer. Should've gotten at least 2 if not 3 wins out of that.

I really think Pili is either not 109 percent or feeling a crazy amount of pressure about the next level. She's really struggled since the south Carolina game. I had a feeling they may get upset though. Not that I believe in basketball gods but there was a lot of trash talk between the two teams at the end of the game at Washington. I thought it may come back around.

WSU now on a 10-0 run and just took a 6 point lead over Colorado with less than a minute to play.

WSU desperately needs this win to have a chance at an NCAA bid, and Colorado needed this to stop its slide out of a hosting spot.

Unbelievable 14-0 run by Washington State to hang a loss on Colorado. Cougs making their case they they still deserve a bid even without Leger-Walker. WSU probably will still need to avoid losing to Cal in round 1 of the P12 tournament.

Green Bay lost at home to Milwaukee, which casts doubt on their ability to get an at-large bid should they lose in the Horizon tournament.

What a wacky day in the Pac. Wazzu w/ 1 more conference win than Washington, avoided the disastrous losses, and has Ws against Gonzaga, Maryland, UCLA and Colorado. A couple of conference members may have seen their seeding slip today, but a couple more put themselves very much in the bubble talk. Last one I saw had Cougs first 4 out and Huskies next 4 out, which seemed unbelievable to me at the time.

And Colorado joins VaTech in the “post Revelation” loss column. Washington schools Helping to protect Gonzaga’s status.

Who’s next?

Also cost them a share of the conference title, which Cleveland St. claimed today.
Kinda like Colorado, Green Bay coughed up a lead at home down the stretch. Led by 6 with 5 minutes left, and then Milwaukee outscored them 16-6.

Beers iz back.
6-8 , 14 pts , 6 reb so far
My uncle pointed out to me von Oelfhoffen didn't have a single FG attempt in this game. 1 game after scoring 27 against Stanford. Other 4 starters in double figures, ran away from Cal in the second half.

That's the difference Beers makes. Before they had different players stepping up every game, but w/out Raegan they really had to have TVO scoring for them.

Are you feeling torn? Since you've come out emphatically calling for Langley to be fired, do you fear that an NCAA bid would cement her tenure?

I'll take a Tourney bid. She's not getting fired this year, no chance. Wynn got 4 years, Langley will get at least that many.

Wait, if she gets a bid this year, there will be zero chance of her getting fired after next year (short of abuse discovery). So if she gets a bid, Langley is yours for 3 years. Are you good with that?
