Week 15 - Feb 9 to 15

They beat TX a month ago
that’s her only win over a top 12 team in the country that plays in the SEC since she joined LSU. That’s it. One win.

Edit: I came up with this stat from the Lafayette Daily Advertiser. But I am not sure it is true. Because there are a couple of wins against Oklahoma mixed in there.

But the record is really poor. Texas has mostly owned her. And she has had no luck with Dawn. Which there is no shame in. But she has had some talented LSU teams the last couple of years. So, I do think the performance against these kind of teams is noteworthy.

ChatGPT says two:

The foul call on Edwards vs Fulwiley was terrible, so I’m glad it didn’t decide the game. Raven Johnson ran a masterful floor game and Staley gave her major props after the game.

Barring any major hiccups, SC is firmly in the driver’s seat for the SEC championship.

I’m not a LSU fan at all, but I have a major crush on their assistant coach Gary Redus

Texas and Oklahoma are and I said two not four.
yeah, and I edited my post and admitted the source was questionable. I don’t know why Oklahoma wouldn’t count.

Edit: I know you guys are sticklers. I looked through it. I think she is 3-10 in conference games against top 12 teams in the country. Tbf, It is mainly losses to South Carolina. And the stat isn’t as bad as I thought it was when I first posted about it.

This is a bad stat. People work too hard to discredit Kim.

People use this random SEC figure to discredit Kim, when in reality she has the following wins:
2021-22: SEC wins over #13, #16, #17, #17 ranked teams
2022-23: wins over Iowa/VT/Utah in the last 4 rounds. All were excellent wins en route to a title. Zero chances to face ranked SEC teams aside from South Carolina
2023-24: win over #9 Virginia Tech, beat #2 seed UCLA in the Sweet 16. Zero chances to face ranked SEC teams aside from South Carolina
2024-25: wins over NC State (2 seed) twice, SEC wins over #13, #14, #16, and #19. No opportunities to face top 10 SEC teams aside from South Carolina and Texas
2025-26: wins over Duke (current #11), Texas (current #5), Oklahoma (current #10).

The SEC was not a particularly good conference from 2022-2024, not a lot of chances to beat top 12 teams in conference play when your only top 12 opponent is South Carolina and every year SC is either winning a championship, playing for a championship, or undefeated in the Final Four. She hasn't been able to beat Dawn despite a lot of really competitive games. No one has been able to consistently do it since UCONN from 2014-2019.

Prior to Kim joining LSU they finished 6-8 in 2020-21. In the subsequent years Kim has put together SEC records of:
2021-22: 13-3, 2nd place
2022-23: 15-1, 2nd place
2023-24: 13-3, 2nd place
2024-25: 12-4, 3rd place
2025-26: 8-4, currently 6th place but will likely finish in 4th or 5th place

Also they're 1-3 vs. Texas who is also a Final Four program and it's a small sample size. Texas has won twice on their home court, LSU has won once in its home court. In the one neutral game Texas won a close one where LSU was forced to play the entire second half without its star player who went down with injury early in the 2nd half. To say Texas has owned Kim is misleading.

Sorry, NBA All-Star Weekend. I am locked in watching WBB all weekend.

Same! It feels good to just relax and watch games without worrying about a South Carolina game. Where I'm at, it's cold and rainy. It's a day where I can sip on some tea and cuddle with the dogs while watching WBB and listen to the raindrops hit the roof.

Safest bet of the day. The over/under for the Duke Chapel Hill game is 127.5. Take the under, put a few dollars on it, and enjoy a quality lunch tomorrow.

That's crazy. I used to go to this game, but they are too intense now a days. A few years ago they played on a Friday night at the ACC tournament. I was up in the stands, surrounded by baby blue...My blood pressure was rising, I was twisting and turning and sweating like I was in the game. Heck . I'm already pacing through the house, so nervous I can't even eat lunch.

Like I said. UConn. I want Vandy as the 2 seed in our region. LSU or Texas? Absolutely not. Don’t want to sniff those teams until at least the final four.

This has been the problem with women's basketball for years now. Allowing tons of fouls and calling it great defense. It started with Rutgers and it's more evident today than ever. Gee what a surprise that a coach Abe team did it again. A great upset. Absurd than GA only had 2 more fouls than Vanderbilt. They were grabbing, slapping and bumping constantly right to the end. The theory that if you do that constantly the refs will only call a percentage of it is true. Blakes had 20 FT's but should could have easily had 30. This is why Geno doesn't like close games. You can't leave your fate in the hands of refs that don't call enough fouls. Vandy had a really poor first half and allowed GA to stay close. That is on them, but when teams like GA are close they're just going to get more physical. Hey, this is what we've got. And of course all the younger fans will think I'm crazy (Because this is all they've known) and the older ones will agree with me.

Yep. I didn't follow Rutgers very closely, but had years of watching CTT's teams at Arizona St. do the same routine. And eventually about half of the Pac 12 teams followed suit. If you can't beat 'em, join 'em. Absolutely cheapens and ruins a beautiful sport.

OhioSt over Maryland and Kentucky over Ole Miss by almost 20 points at halftime.
