Is McMiller injured or suspended again for Rutgers?

Illinois beat Penn St., improved to 10-4 in the B1G. Tough finish though. Nebraska, @UCLA, @USC, Michigan.

@nwhoopfan I think we agreed Taylor Jones hasn't improved much in college, but I'll retract that statement after watching her today and vs. Texas. She's absolutely dominated Clara Strack today and had a great game against SC too. Also a monster game vs. Tennessee. Earlier in her career I don't think she always produced against good teams but she's been showing up big time in SEC play this season.

Taylor for sure has been inconsistent at Texas; struggles against quicker more athletic post players who can match her strength. She hasn't always been healthy, so it's hard to know how a healthy Taylor would have performed/improved if not dealing with injuries. This offseason and season have been her healthiest for sure.

IIRC she was dealing with injuries most of her time at Oregon St. as well. Mostly shoulder.

Pretty crazy, 3 OT games going on simultaneously. 2 from the WCC and Vandy-Mississippi St.

.-.
San Diego gets their first conference win, in OT @ Pacific. Meanwhile Gonzaga came back from 4 down the last 2:37 of regulation, beat Oregon St. in Corvallis in OT. Huge game for Ejim. Bad weather conditions kept the size of the crowd significantly limited.

Vandy letting one slip away. Down 8 in 2 OT, hosting Mississippi St.

Hope they lock in for the baby blues this weekend.
I'm confident there will be lots of red in the blue seats Sunday.

That must have been Miami's best shooting game of the season last night. Until the 4th quarter, almost everything they were putting up was going in, from both short range and long range. I hadn't really watched much of Miami until last night and I kept wondering how they lost by 40+ to Duke and had lost so many games.

Says a lot about the character of NC State, tho: on nights when you're not shooting well and the other team is hot, you have to come up with ways to counter that to get the win and that's what they did last night. After a string of games when the Wolfpack Women looked like a well-oiled machine.

With one half in the books both NAU and GCU protecting the home court. The Jacks are scoring 46 first half points) but the inability to defend Portland State shooting 52% does not bode well for Boise.

Down in Phoenix the Lopes are extending the streak to 21, leading by 13 at the half.
Regarding NAU and GCU

Do any of the Western mid-majors have a chance at an at-large bid?

Well I will say Duke routinely trounces the bottom half of the league whereas State plays much more competitive games for whatever reason. Partly I think State doesn't lock in on defense against lesser opponents and luckily it hasn't bitten them yet, but I wish they had more results like against VT and BC where they just take full control and get the back ups some burn.

Another part I think is just the style of play. Duke loves to get up in you and press up on you, speed you up and force you to play fast. Bad teams and teams without good athletic guards can get super flustered in those situations and just not ever get comfortable. State doesn't play that way. Wes has always preferred making other teams hit jumpers, going under screens as a general rule, not fouling, not forcing action. He wants to dominate the glass and not be giving up shots at the rim or at the free throw line. That sort of more passive style of defense sometimes works against us I think when a team is hot. But I won't argue with it, rebounding wins games, and Wes certainly knows how to win games. There are times when I wish we'd extend our defensive pressure a little more, particularly against lesser opponents.

But...if you are a Wolfpack men's fan as well then you know the negative of pressing up on teams at times too. Can be a foul fest and lay up line against quality guards.

Also I did hear that Miami's team had been sick and wasn't 100% in that game.

.-.
Hey hey hoop fans - five top 25 teams playing today, 2 BE games, and 11 games featuring conference undefeated.

Keep an eye out for the games shaded in aqua - two close ones and two first matchups.

Who do you think falls to a 3 out of USC/UCONN/LSU?
None..... Connecticut is entrenched as the 7th team, USC has a shot at a first seed with a win over the Bruins and the tigers borrowing a total collapse would slot in as the eighth team

Arizona schools all with a 2:00 p.m. Mountain Standard Time tip on ESPN Plus.

NAU with a late season pink out and t-shirt giveaway. Sophie Glancy coming off a 21 point double double Tuesday night. The Jack's need to ignite Leia Beattie if they have any hope in the tournament in Boise against the Bobcats. They just need to look for her a little more so she can regain her stroke..

Lopes have a great matchup as they attempt to extend their NCAA leading streak to 22 wins. UT Arlington is coming off an upset loss to the Lancers so it'll be very interesting to see how this game develops.

The Sun Devils are ready to get pounded by the Utes. This game has an incentive as the first 100 fans get a James Harden bobblehead doll. Bobblehead is an appropriate giveaway for Natasha Adairs squad as they extend their losing streak to 11 with this home loss. As they notch their 18th loss the rebuild reflects the moxie of the nice coach from Delaware in 2021 CAA coach of the year. Look for the Devils to top 20 fouls, 20 turnovers, and give up at least 10-3 pointers as Adair resolutely supports her teams relentless refusal to defend the three line.

Down in the dirty t the kitties host Maddie Connor and TCU. The kitties Losers of three out of their last four are appreciative of the chance to have pounded adairs squad to avoid the four game losing streak his primed. I'm wondering how former Kitty Connor will perform in front of her former coach and team. Might she hit 5 threes? No one expects Barnes to figure out a way to beat TCU although I suspect there will be 7-8,000 fans in McKale. Who do my way of thinking deserve a better product on the floor. Over under is Cunningham collects her a third foul in the first half.

Wonder if the kitty fans will give Prince a bit of hazing over the recent revelations? More to the point will those distractions impact Prince's ability to school Cunningham?

And inquiring minds want to know how Beh will perform against a talented well coached top 15 opponent. Let's face it TCU plays a different game than ASU.

So Arizona schools should go 2 and 2 this afternoon as the Jacks and Lopes continue their winning ways and the two large State schools accelerate a trajectory that in one case is mediocre and the other is a disaster looking for a rebuild.

Wow. I've been halfway watching Montana St. @ Weber St. I just realized there is NOBODY in the arena. I think I counted about 12 fans. I've never seen an arena that empty before. Sad. (okay, covid era doesn't count)
Announced attendance 313. Lol, Creative accounting in Ogden?

If the game were in Montana the arena would have at least 1000 to 1,500 people as the Cats really support their team.

Weber State came into this game riding two successive victories and played NAU very very tough in a 5-point loss.

The pounding the Bobcats put on Weber State reflects how strong this team is and in addition to winning the regular season Montana State is the presumptive tournament winner. They have a deep squad that plays very intense, aggressive defense and NAU has been unable to find any way to deal with their defensive pressure.

Arizona is tomorrow. Conner will probably go off, she never had a chance to start. Wasn't her turn yet, so she left for where it was. Was my favorite player on the team at the time.

The one point you do miss is that most of the departures from Arizona were amicable. I don't know about Conner; and miss all-LSU was dismissed. But in general, Barnes didn't want to play them the way they wanted to play.

I very much doubt Arizona fans will have much to say about Prince, unless local news tries to stir things up. Arizona fans are almost exclusively Arizona fans, and tend, all things being equal, to not be negative towards the opponent.

Arizona St. defense is on track. Gave up 49 points and a season high tying 11 3's to Utah in the first half. 30 seconds into Q3 Utes hit #12.

At the half

NAU - for one of the first times this season NAU being outshot 38 to 34 at the half. But this is Sac State shooting 18 per cent so the Jacks lead 45-21.

GCU in a dog fight tied at the half at 38. This is the most important and entertaining game in the state this weekend - although many are anticipating what high fashion coach Barnes will be rocking tomorrow down in the dirty t.

Tempe..... Utah getting everything they expected as they are shooting 11 for 20 from three land and over 50% over ASU as they are taking full advantage of the rebuild by the moxie coach from Delaware to lead by 15.

Dirty t - coach Barnes is taking advantage of an extra day of prep to get ready for former kittie and amiable departure Maddie Connor, Sedona and TCU.

In this day and age turnover over is inevitable.

14 now. Kneepkens and McQueen are having a contest to see who can hit the most.

Utah called off the dogs some time in Q3 and still put up 98 points. Finished 18-32 from 3, had 3 players that made 4 or more.

Quite a shootout in the Missouri Valley. Murray St. beat Northern Iowa 96-91. 30 points for Young from MSU, McDermott had 35 in a losing effort.

Addy Brown needs 1 rebound for a triple double. Iowa St. up big w/ 3 minutes left, not sure if she's still in the game.

You and I would go 50% against the "defense" the Devils are ..... I can't even say this with a straight face it's absolutely pathetic. The moxie coach from Delaware is making the Utes look like a number one seed.

Since Michael Crowe and the ASU AD are not going to buy out the nice coach from Delaware I'm now wondering as she will be going for a fourth consecutive 20 loss season next season how many NCAA coaches have had four consecutive twenty loss seasons with the same school?

The question itself reveals so much about the institutions, the coaches, and the taxpayers who submit to this kind of malpractice of both the fiscal and sporting variety.
