Oklahoma St. doing it again. Trying to lose to BYU. Bottom feeders are kryptonite to them. This finish is painful. I think 6 straight possessions with a TO, neither team wants this game.
Failure to box out may cost the girls the game if Cougars can hit their free throws which is a big if.

Oklahoma St. might be the most perplexing team in the country. They've beaten all the best teams in the Big 12, but have also lost to 3 of the worst. Weird.

Looks like Flaujae Johnson may not be available at all or be limited vs Texas today due to a lower leg injury and Mikyalah Williams is coming off the flu

What's going on with Moore of Texas? I see she is out

Im excited about this TN/Ole Miss game. Should be fun

Huge implications for NC State today against UNC. A win by NC State today will keep us with only one conference loss and a date with Notre Dame looms soon...and give us the tie-breaker over almost every other team that has the potential to finish in the top 4 (State has already beaten Duke, Louisville, Florida State)...with Georgia Tech on the horizon next week.

Fried chicken is on the menu this Sunday
The two worst FT shooting teams in the conference squaring off today. I think there's a great chance that those attending the game may get some free chicken themselves!

A loss like this, on national TV mind you, can be damaging to the brand. This is as much a wake-up call for Dawn as it is for the team itself. These losses are starting not to look like one-offs anymore.

Look at the starting line-up--all upperclassmen (one grad, two seniors, two juniors (one redshirt junior, so essentially another senior)). Only one of those starters scored in double figures today. Not one of them had more than five rebounds. Who are the leaders? "Leading by example" works if the proper example is being set. Otherwise, you need upperclassman voices. Where are they? Who's holding their fellow teammates (and themselves) accountable?

You may also have to think about what's happening with the coaching staff (what is it with the slow offensive starts?), but that's a conversation best left for another occasion.

Reviewed recent history of South Carolina-UConn rivalry.

Here are the winners of matchups in the Dawn Staley era:

2024 - South Carolina
2023 - South Carolina
2022 - South Carolina
2021 - South Carolina
2021 - UConn
2020 - South Carolina
2019 - UConn
2018 - UConn
2018 - UConn
2017 - UConn
2016 - UConn
2015 - UConn
2008 - UConn

Ahem :)

Was Utsby hurt? No points and 1 rebound. I don't see minutes played in the box score.

#12 UNC squeaks out a 1 point “upset” win over #10 NC State. Another one in the + column for UConn today for March.

Poor Miami just can't get over the top. Back and forth battle w/ Florida St., lose by 1. Had a last second shot that hit back rim and popped out. Latson was out but Gordon went nuts w/ 34. Haley Cavinder scored 25 and was flirting with a triple double.

Mississippi St. looked like they were cruising against Florida...but ended up losing by 3. Bad loss.

The two ACC rivalry games in the 2pm window were insane down the stretch.... Miami missed a game winning layup at the buzzer.... and State faltered in the last minute

You want to write off North Carolina...but they win just enough big games to still be relevant.

Simmer down big fella.

Crazy how hard Mississippi State has fallen since that magical time from about 2016 to 2018.
I'll say it, and people won't like it, but it's coaching. Vic was able to get the girls to play greater than the sum of their parts. Nobody since then (focusing mainly on Sam Purcell here) has come close. It's unfortunate for the fans because that first season of Sam was misleading.

That said, this is not the worse loss in the world for Mississippi State. Florida is a tricky team to play, and this is probably just a Q2 loss. It does, however, erase the gains made from the Vanderbilt win and likely locks them into a sub-0.500 conference record (they have the bigs to battle Texas, but do we really expect them to win that game?).
