Week 13 - Jan 27 to Feb 2

Is Jacy Sheldon sitting on the bench w/ the Buckeyes? If not, they have her doppleganger.

Amoore is going nuts, 35 points. Kentucky up double digits w/ the clock running down.

Oklahoma has been a big disappointment this year. Not IowaSt level, but about to be 4-5 in conference, tied for 8th. They do have an easier finish tho.
That's what I was saying the other day. I think they were actually better last year. Somehow adding Beers hasn't really worked out for them like it seemed like it would've.

.-.
Kansas St. annihilated Kansas on the road 91-64. So much for a rivalry game.
Preview of kitty destruction of the Weak Devils next Sat in the rivalry game in the dirty t

Wow, Brown and Crooks combined for 60 for Iowa St.! And it wasn't enough. Van Lith scored 28 and TCU wins 82-69. So pretty much nobody else did anything for the Cyclones. Prince was scoreless. Yeah, I got on the hype train early but her performances in games like this and South Carolina are reminding me of who she was while at Oregon.

Yeah she should've come to UConn. :)

Actually i'm disappointed in all the OreSt expats. There's no reason they couldn't have had great success this year had they stayed together. But they all bailed on their coach and each other.

Strack, Key and Silva have all fouled out for Kentucky. Amoore is still pouring it on w/ 43.

Sigh. Two at least picked good teams to jump to in USC and UCLA, oh maybe TCU too, but I think other than Beers all of them have seen fairly significant reductions in their roles and stats.

But yeah, Oregon St. would've steamrolled through the WCC, OOC was manageable, they would've won A LOT of games if they had stuck together.

Both Amoore and Van Lith have their detractors, but they put their teams on their back today in big wins. Both opponents shut down the post games, so K and TCU has no choice but to win from outside.

UCLA faced same problem with Minn. Betts passed back outside for 11 assists, and excellent freshman sub Aarnisalo hit a bunch of 3s.

Will (for real this time:rolleyes:) be interesting game film on Betts, Strack and Prince.

But personally I would love to see a statue of Augustus staring at the ground with her hands out after Kim smashed it out of her hand. :)
Someone needs to turn that moment into a GIF if they haven't already. Seimone's "what just happened?" face was priceless.

Edited to add: I shared this wish with my teenage daughter, and she delivered: slap on Make a GIF

Can someone send a memo to coaches around the country that 5 guard lineups are dumb? Start with the coach in Seattle.

I don't think it will be that bad.
Actually it's probably going to be even worse.

I don't know what the spread is but I would give the points. It's hard to be supportive of the rebuild currently in process of its third consecutive 20 loss season under the mentorship of the nice coach from Delaware and former 2021 CAA coach of the year. I think one sure bet would be that the nice coach from Delaware will never be coach of the year in the Big 12.

I think down in the dirty t it'll be very difficult for the Devils to stay within 20. Devils are going to extend their six game losing streak and over that streak they have on average lost by a margin of over 20 points. In addition to being a horrible defensive team they're an equally bad road team with their last road win occurring last year against mighty Eastern Maryland a team that I believe is now 5 and 10.

I know the kitties are up and down but they clearly have the kind of defense that's going to stymie the Devils and the kitty quickness could easily have the Devils with 30 fouls leading to a 25-point loss.

The only mitigation against the inevitable 30-point loss would be the experience the kitties have up in Boulder. Under the 1.2 million dollar outstanding coach perhaps the kitty's exhaust themselves with a miracle victory in Boulder depleting the energy and will to win all of her starters.

Upon reflection I don't think any of those things are going to lead to anything less than a 35 point loss.

I'm sure Geno would appreciate your insights. Let me know how that works out for you. :)

(Technically not a 5-guard, but Strong isnt exactly a post.)

Ha ha. Well let's just say a 5 guard lineup for the West Coast Huskies looks a little different than the East Coast Huskies. They have no one remotely like Strong, obviously.

Yeah, really really unimpressed w/ Ohio St. today. Any decent team would've beaten them. Washington isn't quite that.

This makes 5 losses in the last 6 games for UW. Time to dust off my "Fire Langley" sign.

Looks like it lasted

Ah. Both wear 22 and it's 2/2.

South Carolina requires a 5 year waiting period before an athlete gets their jersey retired, which begins at the conclusion of their final year at USC. A'ja's last year was in 2018, so I think we could have retired it last year but I guess schedules didn't line up. It's kind of crazy to think that we're a little over one generation (the freshie years) removed from the A'ja Wilson years.
