Week 11 - Jan 12 to 18

I'm with @Vowelguy on this one. Intentional misses are a very high risk tactic. Even if you hit the rim, there's no telling where the rebound will go. And the odds of missing altogether are high. In this case, sinking the second free throw and relying on the defense seems like a better plan. It just didn't work out this time.

And, by the way, I'm really impressed by Marta Suarez this season.
If it were Diana or Paige at the line, I'd tell them to a miss. If it were a frosh, I wouldnt.

Uh oh, IowaSt trailing again. Down to Colorado late in the 3rd.

Could start to impact Crooks' bid for first team AA.

There’s no telling where the ball will go with 2 seconds (basically 1.6) is exactly what you want. There’s no planning, no subbing...basically chaos, BUT more importantly that takes TIME. Shrinking the clock on your opponent is defense. The only relevant score at this time is that you have the lead AND the only way to surrender that lead is to gift TCU time…which they did (by making the second ft). AND…they subbed in Suarez.

For the record…the WVU coach was asked in the postgame presser if he even considered missing the 2nd FT. He said no.

But the most likely result is a complete miss, which results in a deadball situation, clock stopped, Suarez subbed in anyway, etc. etc... and only a one point lead.

I'm feeling sorry for Iowa State without Addie Brown. It seems to be too much for them to overcome. I hope they're able to get her back.

I would think that bid is toast especially after watching her defense last week.!

I’ve said in a couple of threads, Iowa State may just not be that good without Addy Brown. Another example this evening.
Without Addy, the team is a few little guards and a very un-mobile post player. Addy is the other scoring threat and an excellent defender -- which Audi is not so much, though she had 15 rebounds, 4 blocks and 2 steals tonight. With Addy, the team can cover for Audi's defensive lapses, as well as supplying the scoring punch when she's off the floor. Jada can get hot from time to time, but that is not her strength. But even with these problems, Colorado only won because they got hot from 3 in the final 5 minutes. They shot poorly all game and then hit three 3s in a row to take the win.

If you dont hit the rim, it's a deadball. No time runs off. Opponent gets the ball out of bounds. Then you're only up 1, they advance the ball, and onl

Not sure on this. I would say chance of complete miss 10%, chance of opponents making 3 pointer 30%.

I would choose missing the free throw. It's at least 1 second off clock, perhaps even game over.

Marta Suarez nails a THREE at the horn...TCU beats West Virginia, 51-50.

Not sure what to make of TCU. The game vs Ohio State on Monday is going to be interesting. On a related note, Suarez is now my new favorite non-Duke player 😁

Wooo lordy. Today is gonna be spicy:

Wake Forest was 7 of 7 from THREE in Q1 and tied a program record for points in a quarter, leading NC State 33-23 after 1Q.

Worst defensive performance for NC State I've seen in years.

Despite shooting 70% from the field in the first half, Wake Forest's lead has been trimmed to 49-43 at halftime. NC State with a surge in the latter half of Q2.

Lou pulled away late — up 13 with a minute to go

FSU in a tight battle with woeful Pitt

BC losing by 30 to Stanford

UNC trailing Miami at half. What has happened in chapel hill?
@triaddukefan did you have a voodoo doll made?

Wow...the NC State/Wake game was full of big runs. NC State went from being down 15 to up 25 at one point...then Wake cut the lead back to 12. NC State emerged victorious 95-77, despite Wake hitting a season high 13 THREEs.

Wolfpack Women placed 4 in double figures, with Khamil Pierre tallying 26 points and 14 rebounds and Tilda Trygger 18 points and 13 rebounds. The NC State post game has emerged as the strength of this year's squad, and it's getting better.

KY had a big lead on Fla earlier. Now tied.

Vandy has not been able to fully shake MissSt. Will win, but not as dominant it should've been if the 'Dores are a top 10 team.

I have that game on the big screen and on the little screen, I'm hoping Miami can beat the Tar Heels in Courtney Banghart's cavernous gym.
I find myself thinking, other than the really top teams who have their detractors because people get tired of seeing them always win, I don't think there is a more commonly disliked program than UNC here on this board (well okay never mind Tennessee, that's a whole 'nother thing). Considering they don't really ever do much, they sure do inspire a lot of hate. Of course some of it is from long storied, bitter rivalries, but it goes deeper than that.

Cal outscored Syr 25-9 in the 4th to force OT, but Orange won it in THIRD ot
UNC had a strong 3rd quarter to take control.
VaT pounding SMU, up 20
FSU edged Pitt
Duke up 11 on UVa

in the battle of winless, Mizzou up double digits on Arkansas
