Week 11 - Jan 12 to 18

UCLA bombing away from 3 is not what I'm used to seeing. 9 made in the first half. Kneepkens and Leger-Walker are both going off.
Yup. They haven't needed much from Lauren Betts so far. She's only taken two shot attempts. Interesting.

You have your chance right now with them playing UCLA on NBC. Personally, I think you're missing out as she's having a decent season and it is her final year.
Very true and great point. I consider her a neighbor because I lived in Frederick MD for years and Middletown is a suburb. 🤣
However, I moved from there a few years before she was born.
I'm just glad that she's had a very nice collegiate career at Arkansas and Maryland.

What happened to Florida St.? Dropped to 1-6 in ACC, got clobbered by North Carolina today 82-55. Heels have been having troubles of their own prior to this.

.-.
no idea where I got that, lol
You certainly knew it on Monday 🤣

Garzon from Maryland is a 6-3 guard. Why does she fade away on almost all of her shots? Usually has a smaller defender on her. Why make a shot more difficult than it needs to be? Anyway she is ice cold today.

Mississippi St. beat Kentucky 71-59. There is a lot of sorting out to do in the SEC. Early on I thought Kentucky was pretty solid, but they've been struggling lately. Oklahoma is highly suspect as well I think. Hey Tennessee did get their second quality win of the season.

edit--how does Beers only get 8 shots for Okie? Lowest of the starters. Others had 12, 14, 12 and 17. Raegan was 5-8, the other 4 were 16-55.

Vols are 5-0 in the SEC. Tied with SCar & Vandy for 1st

Right, but easy schedule so far. Will change soon and loaded down the back stretch. Before today they had played Florida, Auburn, Mississippi St. and Arkansas. I'd venture easiest schedule anybody has faced to this point in SEC play.

edit--the next 4 in conference are all winnable, although they do step out of conference to visit UConn; 5 of last 7 are South Carolina, Texas, Oklahoma, LSU and Vandy. I'd say their only decent wins this year are Stanford and Alabama, and neither of those are exactly a signature W.

UCLA rolling over Terps. — up 20 in 3rd
Can bruins go undefeated in conference?
Terps were scrappy and hanging around in first half. Q3 has been a disaster for them.

UCLA shooting over 60% overall and 11-20 behind the arc. Terps are at 34% overall and 4-17 from deep. That will do it.

Weird lineup in Q4 for UCLA. Sienna Betts, Dugalic and Muse all on the floor together. They start 4 guards but apparently have 0 reserve guards available currently?

97-67 final.

I was impressed w/ Addi Mack from Maryland.

Jacquez scored 22 on 10-13 shooting. Leger-Walker had 17 and Kneepkens 16.

edit--somebody please decide if UCLA scored 97 or 99; I've seen the score flip flop back and forth several times, both the TV broadcast and ESPN's site

Mack is playing similar to earlier in the season when she was on pace for the All- Freshman team. That Illinois game sort of set her back a little.

Oregon was up 4 on Wisconsin w/ 1:07 left to play, but somehow let it get to OT.

edit--even worse up 6 w/ :51 left.

edit #2--wow, fouled a 3 point shooter w/ about 30 seconds left, then gave up another 3

Texas 80
TAMU 35

Perhaps a good landing spot for the TCU coach??

Uh...A&M was only down 10 at the half against Texas. Got outscored 46-11 after that. How is that possible? 80-35 final.

Or maybe stay where he is? Already proved he can win and take them deep in the Tourney. And doesn't have to battle w/ Dawn, Kim and Vic.

Kelly Graves needs to learn about fouling on purpose when you are up by 3 late in a game. It's bitten him twice in 1 game. Might be going 2 OT now.

edit--yep, gave up a tying 3 w/ 16 seconds left in regulation, tying 3 w/ 5 seconds left in OT

Yet Auburn and Mississippi State both beat ranked teams.

So? The Vols have beaten teams w/ conference records of 0-5, 1-5, 2-4, 2-3 and 3-3. Easy schedule. Like I said, wait til the stretch run when they have to play SC, Texas, LSU, Vandy and some others.
