New Mexico wins a 82-80 shootout w/ Fresno St. Mountain West race looks intriguing w/ these 2 and Colorado St. (Boise St. seems to have taken themselves out of contention).

NAU with another uninspired performance on the road at greeley. Northern Colorado leading 30 to 17 with a little over 4 minutes left in the half. I'm sure Loree Payne is pulling her hair out wondering what happened to defensive energy and intensity with her squad. And a team that started off the year gangbuster shooting has been in a horrific shooting slump got a month.
They were down big but have closed to within 1 in the closing seconds of the game.

edit--too bad, 59-54 final

I don't know what's harder to believe: that it's already the last week of January, or that it's already the tenth week of the season.

But I digress. This week's slate starts off with some intriguing gems, with the Maryland-Ohio State garnering marquee status. Maryland has been mostly cruising through challengers big and small since taking an early L to Missouri State. Ohio State, paying no attention to the doubters such as myself, has gone undefeated thus far, including an impressive road win to end Iowa's 3-year-long home court streak.

Tuesday's and Wednesday's schedule features a number of under-the-radar critical clashes in some mid-major races in the Ohio Valley (Belmont–UT Martin), Mountain West (Colorado State–Boise State) and Southland (Stephen F. Austin–Abilene Christian).

An intriguing game at 3pm MST as Idaho state travels to Phoenix to play Grand Canyon.

Molly Miller is willing to fill a Covid ravaged schedule with top level opponents.

What the heck happened to Boise St.? Clobbered by Colorado St. again, almost identical score. 75-53 this time. 4 straight losses to other conference contenders, and 3 of them were by 20+. Ouch.

Wow, they've only gotten in 2 conference games so far? They've now played 5 Big Sky teams, maybe they should switch conferences. The WAC is a dumpster fire anyway.

Idaho St. wins 62-54, improve to 13-1 on the year. Next 6 are against Idaho, Montana and Montana St.. They have a chance to completely put the conference race to bed.

Interesting game in progress. Milwaukee is 12-0 in the Horizona and 15-1 overall. Northern Kentucky is also undefeated in the Horizon, but only 4-0, and winless out of the conference (4-5 overall). NKU with a double digit lead approaching halftime, 32-16. I'd have to say this is unexpected.

Well they did lose their two leading scorers (and three of their top four), plus their PG who was one of the nation’s leader in assists.

Those losses, plus starting three freshman, typically mean a rebuilding year.

That's a lot to lose. I meant what happened from earlier in the year, when they appeared to be fine.

Anyway Loville has blossomed into a scorer and McGwire is solid, Mark is putting up good numbers for a freshman.

Man, Loville, yet another Seattle area player who didn't stay home, who's turned into a good player. UW sure could use a scorer like her. If I had a penny for every local player that left that I've lamented, I'd have a lot of pennies!

Yeah, that PG w/ high assist numbers was also Seattle area and the #1 and #4 scorers were from Central and Eastern Washington.

Charlotte and Western Kentucky going into 3 OT! Tied at 90.

Milwaukee had cut a 14 point halftime deficit down to 3, but now it's up to 10 again.

Rough stretch for IUPUI who was 6-0 in the Horizon before running into the buzzsaw that was Milwaukee last week, and then dropping another one to Green Bay tonight. It seems like the Horizon is Milwaukee's to lose this year; although, Northern Kentucky is still unbeaten in conference play so in theory they could catch up.

This is mainly why I've stopped trying to post listings for more than a few days out. I believe it was Wednesday when I posted games for today, and at latest count four of those games have since been postponed or canceled (not to mention all the games that had already been nixed before Wednesday).

Anyway, I greatly appreciate all the people who regularly chime in with the latest updates in this scheduling chaos.

I find it interesting that the South Dakota State–Denver matchup in the Summit League is being canceled outright, as opposed to postponed. There will be no attempt to make it up, I guess.

The Jacks right the ship 84-81 with a career high 27 points from junior point guard Regan Schenck. Regan was perfect from the field, 8 for 11 from the free throw line, had 12 rebounds and six assists.

Regan was eight for eight from the field, three for three from the three point line in a game high 37 minutes of action.

The Jacks had 13 more shots than Northern Colorado and never trailed in this important game.

NAU had 13 offensive rebounds, 15 steals and had the transition game going. For the Jacks to win they have to score and their scoring is clearly this year a function of running the ball through Schenck's hands and her being more aggressive in shooting.

Alabama State and Texas Southern are demonstrating ASU Sun Devil first quarter offense in a game that's knotted at 9 - 9 at the end of the first.

Northern Kentucky beat Milwaukee again. And IUPUI finally got back in the win column. Horizon getting interesting. Wright St. is right in the middle of it and Green Bay isn't too far back.

Gonzaga cruised against St. Mary's today. They really should be able to run the table this year in the WCC.

Wow, what a meltdown by ND in the 4th quarter! Sorry, but I am not seeing any improvement in Game coaching by the anointed Niele Ivey here. This was just poor coaching in crunch time, waiting too long for taking a time out, not having ball movement, not cutting like in the 1st half and poor shot selection.
