I don't know what's harder to believe: that it's already the last week of January, or that it's already the tenth week of the season.

But I digress. This week's slate starts off with some intriguing gems, with the Maryland-Ohio State garnering marquee status. Maryland has been mostly cruising through challengers big and small since taking an early L to Missouri State. Ohio State, paying no attention to the doubters such as myself, has gone undefeated thus far, including an impressive road win to end Iowa's 3-year-long home court streak.

Tuesday's and Wednesday's schedule features a number of under-the-radar critical clashes in some mid-major races in the Ohio Valley (Belmont–UT Martin), Mountain West (Colorado State–Boise State) and Southland (Stephen F. Austin–Abilene Christian).

Now that I lay it out, I see Thursday is a particularly spicy day, punctuated by the cayenne pepper (okay, maybe too strong — how about smoked paprika?) of UConn visiting Fayetteville AR. I'll invite others to say which spices would characterize the following Thursday matchups:
__ Rutgers–Maryland
__ South Carolina–Mississippi State
__ Northwestern–Iowa
__ Alabama–Kentucky
__ Ohio State–Indiana

Y'all can probably tell I've been doing lots of cooking lately.

At least somebody will get a W finally.

The first of 2 clashes between the 2 this week, game 2 on Friday. Will the Cougs get their first ever win against Stanford? This will be their best chance in a long, long time.

Welp, there's already good news and bad news. The bad news is that the much anticipated showdown in Itta Bena between TSU and MVSU has been postponed.

The good news is that the background art on the MVSU site, depicting the Devil and Devilette mascots, is pretty fierce.

I knew it had been a while. OSU hasn't won since 12/6 and UW hasn't won since 12/13. Egads. Of course both have had several games postponed/cancelled, including against each other on 12/21.

Rutgers @ Maryland is postponed.

Although it sounds like this will be the last game they themselves will have to postpone.

BYU missed 2 games last week (including against Gonzaga), but back in action today and crushing Pacific. Up 47-21 at the half. How in the world did BYU lose to Washington by 29?

I'll be keeping an eye on the Southland scoreboard tonight, when 3rd-place Nicholls (4-2) visits 2nd-place McNeese (4-0). McNeese is undefeated in conference play so far, feeding on the bottom teams. Nicholls has had a somewhat tougher conference slate so far, but both have soundly defeated the two bottom teams. Both of the Lady Colonels conference losses have come on the road.

ETA: The Southland has a weird scheduling scheme. Neither of these teams face conference leader Stephen F. Austin this season.

The Michigan State game has been moved to 1/28/2020 at 4 PM and will be on the BTN.

Other moves are expected.

I think you should add NC State -Virginia Tech to the spice selection given the closeness of last week's game and that the long anticipated ACC Showdown, NC State v. Louisville is next week.

Eh, sorry, Virginia Tech has pooped their pants one too many times to be included on the spice shelf. Kitchen standards :)

USF game with Temple is postponed. So is their Saturday game with Cincy. Feb. 3rd against SMU is cancelled. That's 6 games in a row postponed or cancelled.

Next scheduled game is 2/7 at UCF.

Eww...going to the 4th quarter, UCF has a 34-30 lead on East Carolina.

First to 50 wins?

They had to move it back from 5pm.... as that interfered with the dinner time of most BY'ers :p
Or did they move it so those of us who wanted to watch the Virginia Tech/NC State rematch wouldn't have a conflict? ?

Hey! How come when I post something like this about UCF and Coach Abe, @Plebe immediately posts something about winning ugly with good defense and that they have a P5 win??? Where are the mods? I see an unfair bias occurring here...

71-51 CSU. BSU is falling apart, 3 game losing streak and 2 of them were blowouts.

Ha! Well, it did take 50 to win. UCF holds off a feisty effort from ECU, 52-47.

Nicholls on a roll...up 25-15 on McNeese, nearing the end of the first half.

I KNEW Do'bee wouldn't disappoint me. This would be a big road win for them..and one that is badly needed.
