Week 1 preview (Nov. 9-14)

ND beats Syracuse 82-56. ND goes on 21-0 run to end the game. Westbeld goes on a 9-0 by herself in the 4th quarter. ND had 14 TOs in the 1st half-only 5 in the 2nd half. Really impressed with Miles and her court vision. The TOs are a bit of a problem, but it’s only the 3rd game of the season. Sam Brunelle also had a good game-17 points.
Overall, MUCH better than the last 2 years. If they have everyone come back next year with KK Bransford, this team will be pretty dang good.

I gave NC State a 1 game pass for a post South Carolina hang over (after a slow start they won easily). Trailing Florida early today.

Columbia just beat Clemson. Princeton is off to a good start. Maybe those Ivies were chomping at the bit after missing all of '20-'21.

I'm watching the Syracuse- Notre Dame game. I don't understand Ivey's strategy.
Westbeld scores the first 6 points for ND and she gets substituted for 3:40 into the game with 1 personal foul. Any explanations ?

She has been bringing in Brunelle and Citron after about 3 1/2 minutes each game.

An upset brewing in Winston Salem.... My Spartans lead Wake Forest 37-36 after 3.

Maybe NC State are just slow starters. Nearly have Florida doubled up now at the beginning of Q2.

Notre Dame is not going to miss the NCAA tournament this year. In fact, I think they'll be a top 15 team fairly soon. Either Citron or Miles will be ACC FOY. Both are 100% college ready. Westbeld has All-American potential also. Dodson is an excellent addition and fulfills a front court need alongside Westbeld.

For a team that almost lost its entire roster from last year, Syracuse did well to get some quality transfers in Alaysia Styles, Chrislyn Carr, Christianna Carr, Jayla Thornton and some other decent players. They won't be a total doormat this season, despite being blown out in this game.

I successfully reverse jinxed USC. Pulled away in the 2nd half, thanks mostly to Rayah Marshall apparently. I didn't see it, but sounds like she narrowly missed throwing down a dunk.

Duke laid the hammer down on the Mighty Seahawks of UNC-Wilmington... 87-45.... we could have easily gotten 100. 12 players got double digits in minutes. Averaging 21 assists through the first three games. You would never see those numbers under the previous regime... even against weaker opponents
