This may or may not be the best team ever. But the one thing that is was was truly fun. They used social media grace dignity and tons of fun. Sarah who never talks danced with Paige and Azzi. KK had her little microphone everywhere. The team was what I thought they would be at the start of the year other than Jana wound up starting half way through the season. It was sad to see Ayanna not able to play. Morgan getting hurt and out for the season. But great to see Aubrey and Caroline playing at the end. What an incredible season. Thank you UConn.

I was on IG and I thought about some of the recent players that were not quite able to win a championship. And I visited their feeds and they were all happy for UConn. I am talking about Dorka, Nika, Lou, Evina, Christyn Williams. I am glad they still feel such a strong connection to the program.

A mostly stress free experience, which is good. I have been a fan since NH’s own Kerry Bascom signed . Very happy for the team and especially Paige. I thought a Co-MOP would have been appropriate. For many of us the down time between now and next season is excruciatingly long.

An argument could be made for all 3 of them. Paige led them to the Final 4 and her numbers were great throughout the tournament.
I usually root for one player or another for MOP. This time I can honestly say I was not. As far as I’m concerned, they should give the MOP to the entire team.

Life is beautiful again!

awesome job UConn. congrats BYers.
Did anyone feel like Dawn Staley gave up pretty early? I don't think she stood up once after a certain point in the 3rd quarter.
yeah, i think when holly asked here where do you think your points will come from and she said I don't know. I knew that she knew that it night night

Ashlynn Shade wasn't the same after that nasty fall vs. Oklahoma.
But her three pointer before the half was a pivotal moment in today's game. It gave UCONN a double digit lead at halftime & took some steam out of South Carolina's comeback.
And Ashlynn never lost her aggressive style, attacking rebounds & loose balls with a vengeance.
Sometimes I feel Ashlynn does not get enough praise for her aggressive play and toughness. I look forward to watching her in action next year as a starter.

After reviewing today’s stats these are some oddities that surprised me.
1. USC led in 3 pt. %, 4-16..25% to Uconn’s 4-17..23.5%
2. UConn lead in blocks 5-4
3. UConn led in points in the paint 36-26..big surprise
4 UConn led in rebounds 40-36.. biggest surprise

Once again, congratulations UCONN on a well deserved Championship !
If UConn had one of their hot 3 point games, it would have been over at the half.

After rewatching the game, it really struck me that Dawn must have had some sense that her team couldn't really stay with the Huskies even before the opening tip. And you're right, that interview with Holly after the 3rd quarter, when you watch it a second time, has a wistful air about it. I'm also sure she held out hope for an unlikely result for as long as she could. But the way this game turned out could not have been a surprise to her.
