There are bad calls, and then there are calls so bad that the game announcers signed off saying that it was bad for UConn, bad for football and even bad for the team that won because we’ll never know how this football game would have ended.

This is a crazy comment and frankly uncalled for
Well, it is what the announcers were saying on TV and it sure seemed that way with the call he made.

they did the same thing on the next fourth down and they made it. Everybody's only guessing that they thought it was first down.
It was obvious they didn't know what down it was, that's why they didn't challenge it and ran a passing play when it was 3rd and an inch.

How do you expect them to have challenged it? If they thought it was a first down, they would've taken more time to set up and it would have taken time to move the chains.

Just like a win is a win is a win, a loss is a loss is a loss. Wake is the bottom of the barrel in the ACC but they are in the ACC. A win would have been good for the program. They have another shot to beat a P4 school soon.

Ya I was totally confused from section 204 and had assumed he had the 1st on that spot and the passing play was a 1st down.

By knowing what's happening on the field. Alerting the refs it was a first down and telling them you're challenging the spot.

It's why coaches have challenges.

UConn robbed by the refs, with their Power5 bias obviously showing. They were the better team today. Feel bad for the kids. This loss probably cost UConn a Top-25 bid and Bowl Game invite to boot.

do you think it was a first down?

Well, at least you have everyone lambasting the call on national TV. Makes me feel better for UConn to get some sympathy for all the crap calls and no-calls we always have to deal with.

Refs didn't miss the call, they didn't call it because they didn't want to call it.

Not only did the defender hit him way before the ball got there, he wrapped his arm around him and spun the receiver around.

It would be an inexcusable no call in the first quarter. Not calling that with the game on the line is just disgusting.

The kids deserve so much better than this.
Refs was staring right at it. That wasn't a mistake.

The worst officiating that I can remember witnessing live.

Wake's offensive line held on close to 1/3 of the plays and tackled a defensive lineman at least eight different times. No call.

Their DB's held on about a half dozen plays and there were four blatant interference penalties, all with no calls.

BS officiating for the entire game.

I was asking in that chat why holds weren't being called on Wake?

I think we have our answer.

Evers was terrible. Poor decisions and a bunch of weak passes that seemed to die as they reached the receiver.

Sammis was awful. Every rollout takes away 2/3 of the field but I guess because Evers sees only 1 guy maybe he figures it doesn't matter. And how many times do we have to watch him call a run up the middle on 2nd and long? I almost lost a TV because of that.

Evers was supposed to bring a dual threat but today he never challenged the D with his feet. Without a running threat, without good decisions, without accuracy and without improvement what exactly are we doing? He's not getting better and Sammis is coaching down to his level. We can talk about the PI but that's not why we lost. Our offense has gotten worse.

would Jim Calhoun have been proud of Mora's press conference?
For sure. Unfortunately UConn is probably taking it down anywhere it is on the internet, so it may be difficult to find.

Bad non call but we did everything possible to lose this game.

Can't win with only 40 yards rushing. I thought the run game was supposed to fluorish with Evers under center?

When your passing game is terrible and your "running" QB doesn't know when to run and presents no challenge to the D and your OC shrinks the field and the playbook it makes it easy for the other team's coaches to stuff the run.
