Well at least he's eligible to play right away there.

Vincennes, Indiana is about 325 miles from Chattanooga, TN. For comparison that's like Storrs to Baltimore, MD. Not exactly a hop, skip and a jump. So is his grandmother better now? Just sayin'.

Can't fault a guy for leaving for family reasons... But a shame it went down this way. Saw him play in the pro am and he is quite an athlete, and a very serious big body... He would've played a good Charles Okwandu type role this year, which eventually would have taken him pro in a few years overseas... Now I wonder if he'll have any bball future post college... From what I've heard, a really nice kid

MB earned a permanent pass for any decisions about his basketball life in my opinion. I'll only root for him.

Hold on a second. Do we get dinged on the APR for a guy transferring to a junior college? Isn't that why we got screwed by Smith or Trice or one of those never-belongeds?

Makes you wonder if there was a reason the NCAA denied his waiver...

.-.
I don't want anyone this dumb on my team anyway. He probably won't even see any minutes at VU because he sucks.

I know the sacrifice he would have made if AD didn't decide to walk on but he's now thrown away any chance of a basketball career. Everyone said he was a smart kid, but is not a smart move to leave a top 58 national university for a juco.

One more thing: Nobody leaves college because of a sick grandmother. It is and always has been a bs excuse for a waiver. College is the best time of your life. Everyone loves their grandma, but it just doesn't happen.

Why isn't this a smart move? He needs to play and can't play D-1 this year and will never get this year back if he sits. So he plays juco this year and can play D-1 next year if they still want him.

He has been going to summer school at Western Kentucky and Franklin traveled to that school last week to watch Bradley work out. Bradley then visited VU on Friday and signed while on campus.
Vincennes appears to be a junior college, by the way. I wonder why he didn't just stick with Western Kentucky. If it was academic reasons, that will hurt our APR.

Also, does it hurt our APR if he transfers to a Junior College while in good academic standing?

For the 32nd time, he didn't leave because his grandmother was sick.

He got duck*ed around with here, he got a bucketful of bad advice elsewhere and then made a series of decisions that have resulted with him playing at a backwater junior college.

Not a good story all around.

What happens to our APR? Do we get screwed again now, thus earning us another ban? I hope not.

We lost a retention point when he transferred - what happens to him past that has no further impact.

Pretty sure UConn could have gotten a waiver if his grades were high enough and he transferred on scholarship to a 4 school and gotten that point back.

Yes. But he didn't. He transferred to a JC. Hopefully the NCAA doesn't decide to retroactively raise the APR requirement to 1000.

He did transfer, accept aid and enroll at a four-year school.

He's now transferred, effectively, from Western Kentucky to a junior college.

I don't think we were ever going to get the retention points back on either Roscoe or Bradley.

Yeah. Does this mean we're in danger of another ban?

Bradley we shouldn't have lost points for -- he was an excellent student who left with a GPA > 2.6. But now that he's going to a JC instead of a 4-year college, do we lose that point?

You give a guy a schollie for 2 years who never got on the court and you lose a point even though he had good enough grades. That's bogus.

.-.
Yeah. Does this mean we're in danger of another ban?

He had a 3.5 GPA last semester even though he was taking classes that are far tougher than the classes anyone else on the team was taking. He transferred and enrolled at WKU. He then transferred to a JUCO.

His APR is WKU's problem.

He had to transfer in order to play this year. My guess is that the WKU staff was okay with this. If he had sat out he would've gone 3 years without playing in a competitive game.

Don't we need to get a waiver though?

I that case they can apply for a waiver of the retention point. I forget, may bother it back but can have it not count. Or something like that.

So you lose a point for a kid that transfers, even if his grades are good and he is on track to graduate, but Kentucky loses no points for any of their kids that take corresponence courses and leave college completely for the NBA?!?!?!

Yup, now you get it.

Yup, now you get it.

And this is supposed to show that they care about education? It is better to completely drop out of college than to transfer?!?!?! Don't get me wrong, I am fully aware that none of the kids on any top program give a crap about education. But if the NCAA is going to try an appear to create a rule that encourages education of kids that don't care about their education, one would think transferring would be seen as preferrable over leaving college completely.

Do we lose an APR point for the courant running a story on Bradley with a picture featuring Oriakhi? I guess that's Bradley in the background, but if that's the best they photo they could find, why bother?

Where do these people come from? If you're not able to root for a Michael Bradley to be successful no matter where he goes, then I have to wonder if abduction wasn't part of your upbringing. Wtf planet were you on not to know what he's been through at UConn yet he stood on the sidelines and smiled, cheered on his teammates and was a good student? Damn we have become so spoiled in our fan base.......

Good luck Michael and prove the critics wrong in all respects of life my friend........always a Husky

what he's been through at uconn: uconn was the best basketball program to offer him a scholarship. he took it with the understanding that he'd redshirt his first season. no indication that he would have seen the floor had he not redshirted. team wins national championship. second year he is asked and says yes to giving up scholarship for a year, but ultimately doesn't have to. then he gets hurt and never gets back into playing shape. nobody knows if he would have played significant minutes whether of not andre drummond came. uconn gets postseason ban and he leaves for a school that will cause him to have to sit out a year unless he applies for a waiver, waiver rejected, boom JUCO.

I root for every ex-husky (especially jerome dyson) and i really hope michael bradley has a good life, but i'm calling him dumb because he made a series of very bad decisions that the staff tried to convince him to avoid. people do dumb things, just don't call me dumb :)

Which of those decisions did the staff try to convince him to avoid?

1) accepting the scholarship to UConn
2) redshirting because UConn made him redshirt
3) agreeing to give up his scholarship
4) not giving up his scholarship
5) getting hurt
6) being unable to get into shape due to being hurt
7) transferring to a school and applying for a waiver
8) going JUCO

Of those decisions, I would say he made two bad choices

1) Accepting the scholarship to UConn
2) Transferring to a school that required a waiver.

The rest of those decisions were either outside of his control, or necesitated by decisions made outside his control.

Give the kid a break, he stayed out of trouble, he got good grades, left in good standing, and he never publicly complained about being dicked around.
