Villanova Post Game Thread

Can’t tell if it’s a good or bad thing that this squad knows they’re still likely going to win despite playing poorly for 3/4 of the game.

It was a nice 20 point victory for UConn (if you count all the missed easy shots).

Thankfully Alex Karaban got to the Hartford Civic Center in time for the second half to save the day. Ball starting to get back to form, and what a big overtime three. Another steady game for Demary, 7 assists only 1 turnover. What a tip for Reed in the last minute of regulation. Hopefully, Mullins is OK! Next.

Tough, gritty wins against conference teams and tough, gritty wins in our OOC games. Makes us a tough out as the season progresses.
Hope Braylon’s okay and back soon.

We shot like crap overall, but it was really nice to see Solo shooting it well from deep. Loved seeing how pumped he was when he hit that 3 to put us up by 2 in OT. Hopefully that snaps him out of this season long slump.

Awesome block by Jayden to help us get to OT.

That was probably our C+ game at best and we still picked up a borderline Q1 win.

Lewis may be my least favorite Big East player. He is so phenomenally selfish that I don't know how anyone plays with him without losing it. In the second half alone, there have been half a dozen times where Brennan screened for Lewis, then slipped to the hoop uncovered and Lewis didn't pass it. That drove me crazy as a player and when I was coaching.

I posted that about Acaden Lewis on 12/19/25.

I have to say it again. This team tries so hard to lose, yet always somehow finds a way to win

Welcome back Solo! Great shooting and he finishes with a game high 24

Karaban was absolutely invisible for about 30 minutes. Then he took over

I don’t even know what to think of the offense. We are getting wide open threes for shooters and we are getting to the hoop for layups. That means the offense is working. But then we miss them all. I truly don’t know what conclusions to make from that

just because I have to give my opinion on it, what the heck was that last play in regulation???

But at the end of the day, a win that raises my blood pressure to dangerous levels still counts in the W column. Let’s go Huskies and stay warm!

Might not have the firepower to win it all, but it is very tough to beat UConn. So glad for Ball! Hope Mullins will be okay and miss as little time as possible.
How much time do you miss for a concussion? They get hit a lot harder in the NFL and come back in a week typically.

I thought it was an exciting game to watch. Solo Ball and Karaban were heroic. Demary played great in Overtime. Team is getting a lot of practice in close games.

Rebounding and not being able to finish at rime is killing them. Seemed like. 1/3 of Nova points were after offensive rebounds.

Missed wide open layup by Smith was egregious

Silas definitely has to get the game ball. He saved us with that turnover at the beginning of OT. He also made two key freethrows. Good job Silas.

Also I hope Braylon is ok.

Refs were against us especially with Tarris' 5th foul.

Good win UConn.

silver lining to Mullins leaving the game was Solo busting out of his slump in a big way. hopefully that's the end of that and hopefully Mullins only misses the PC game out of precaution, back for Creighton on 1/31.

This group doesn't instill a lot of confidence visually - the offense at this point in the season is supremely clunky. I saw one set where 5 guys were in the lane in OT. The spacing and rotations, actions seem non existent at times. I honestly don't know what to think. We have some quality wins early, but this is not a team that looks like a NC, at all. Does it have more to to do peak, or is his what it is, that is the question.

Best part of the game:

Solo is back!

Worst part of the game:

The refs were horrendous.

Two of the fouls called on Reed should have been on Brennan. There were two additional fouls on Brennan (including a moving screen on the three very late in regulation) that were not called.

We got the W and showed a tremendous amount of fortitude. Hope Mullins doesn't miss any time.

This is a good win. Villanova is a good, solid tourney team.

Silas is incredible on defense and had the play of the game with the strip, dive, assist to Reed. Just such a key piece to our NC hopes.

If this ugly game gets Solo going, then I will take it 100/100 times. Pulling the ball out late was great to see, but just glad he got some confidence. Now we need two in a row.

We left 8 points from layups in the first half alone. It's pure torture.

Thought we gace it away when Ross missed two FTs and then Reed shuffled. These guys just know how to grind these things out.

Not a high IQ game from Reed. What bothered me the most is when you see your guard getting backed down from the 3pt line, you should be preparing yourself to provide help there.

Anyway, another uneven game where the whole team wasn't firing at the same time, and hopefully Braylon is Ok.
