Villanova Post Game Thread

I have to say it again. This team tries so hard to lose, yet always somehow finds a way to win

Welcome back Solo! Great shooting and he finishes with a game high 24

Karaban was absolutely invisible for about 30 minutes. Then he took over

I don’t even know what to think of the offense. We are getting wide open threes for shooters and we are getting to the hoop for layups. That means the offense is working. But then we miss them all. I truly don’t know what conclusions to make from that

just because I have to give my opinion on it, what the heck was that last play in regulation???

But at the end of the day, a win that raises my blood pressure to dangerous levels still counts in the W column. Let’s go Huskies and stay warm!
This group doesn't instill a lot of confidence visually - the offense at this point in the season is supremely clunky. I saw one set where 5 guys were in the lane in OT. The spacing and rotations, actions seem non existent at times. I honestly don't know what to think. We have some quality wins early, but this is not a team that looks like a NC, at all. Does it have more to to do peak, or is his what it is, that is the question.

Best part of the game:

Solo is back!

Worst part of the game:

The refs were horrendous.

Two of the fouls called on Reed should have been on Brennan. There were two additional fouls on Brennan (including a moving screen on the three very late in regulation) that were not called.

We got the W and showed a tremendous amount of fortitude. Hope Mullins doesn't miss any time.

Things I learned in the chat:

Karaban is both terrible and very good.

Reed is lazy. (I would like to see anyone on this board try to defend Duke Brennan)

This is a good win. Villanova is a good, solid tourney team.

Silas is incredible on defense and had the play of the game with the strip, dive, assist to Reed. Just such a key piece to our NC hopes.

If this ugly game gets Solo going, then I will take it 100/100 times. Pulling the ball out late was great to see, but just glad he got some confidence. Now we need two in a row.

We left 8 points from layups in the first half alone. It's pure torture.

Thought we gace it away when Ross missed two FTs and then Reed shuffled. These guys just know how to grind these things out.

Not a high IQ game from Reed. What bothered me the most is when you see your guard getting backed down from the 3pt line, you should be preparing yourself to provide help there.

Anyway, another uneven game where the whole team wasn't firing at the same time, and hopefully Braylon is Ok.

Not every team can be Michigan,.....

Or Arizona,.......

Or whoever is the current flavor of the month.

Quad 1 gut-check win. Nova is a Tournament team that will be a tough out with their three point shooters. Nice to see Solo back. Silas is a closer. AK showing some leadership in second half/OT. Hustle player of the game for me. Ross-disruptive and showing alot of effort. Next.

Stay safe Yarders for the next 72 hrs or so.

I think what gets Solo going is not sharing the floor with Mullins and knowing he's the guy. That's a hard role to share. Let's not forget that our wins against BYU, Illinois and Florida were all without Braylon. Those are wins over the best teams we've played. Braylon was huge in the Kansas win.

These gutty wins are very important in the long run. Would also like to see us play offense that’s not offensive. And if the bench could give us some production that would nice as well. Miss the days of having a guy come off the bench and give you some instant offense.

Our bench wasn’t great again today but I do think that our depth wears other teams down.

If our identity is toughness, resilience, and winning, I’ll take it. Though I miss pretty offense.

Yeah sorry, they looked amazing. Clicking on all cylinders. Another effortless win. Offense looked like a Ferrari. Let me know if that helps.

Nova a good team, but that was a home game after a number of close wins against bad teams. GTwon beat PC at PC today. NC caliber teams have a close win from time to time, but they don't eek out a series of games against lesser competition.

Nova solid but not a second weekend team.
