Villanova Post Game Thread

We have to get out of this moribund conference.

When we leave they will be reduced to the Colonial League level.

Which is fine. I'm sure many schools will rush to join . So they will be fine, I am sure.

Nothing at all for Val to worry about. The lease on her Mercedes is safe.
Please inform us to where we are going...

Life is too short to watch Big East games live.
Or why Hurley doesn't want to coach past 60, these games put the years on one.

8 point win is better for Kenpom than a buzzer beater. I will take it LOL!

OK grinding and winning ugly is this team’s trademark. I’m done looking for 20 point wins.
Another absolutely pathetic home crowd - no energy in the building until the very end.
I did not think crowd was that bad. I feel like UConn fans are louder when winning than they are for rallying.

Stocking the shelves with ugly wins. It seems to be this teams identity. Will it translate to March?

Solo looks himself after Braylon goes out - made some huge buckets.

Credit it Nova for a tough showing. Willard can coach.
Solo and Braylon were both playing well together today before Braylon was knocked out of the game.

You keep pushing this nonsensical theme, let it go.

Bryce Lindsay 0-8
Acaden Lewis 1-13

Take a freakin bow, Silas. Obviously he didn't guard both, but spearheaded the defensive effort. Braylon was excellent, outside of one bad posession.
Wild, I guess that's what this team is - a gritty defensive team with a pretty stagnant offense. The best this offenses has looked all year was against PC when we were in comeback mode, against a team that doesn't play D. And perhaps a second half stretch against Kansas.

I wonder if KP factors in OT.

That’s a small part of it. We missed some layups in the first half but on the season Solo has been the only guy struggling with his shot and he was on fire today. The offense is just not creating all the easy scoring ops that it used to.
Ball was on fire after shooting 6-16? I would call that admirable after a horrible stretch shooting. Not on fire.

silver lining to Mullins leaving the game was Solo busting out of his slump in a big way. hopefully that's the end of that and hopefully Mullins only misses the PC game out of precaution, back for Creighton on 1/31.
Solo and Braylon were both playing well together today.

Don’t care what his stat line looked like, Tarris got his lunch money stolen by a totally inferior center pretty much all game long. Frustrating to watch.

I’m confident that we can win games playing like hot sweaty stinky arse. Let’s stop doing this and play to our potential.

Nice to see Ball play better. Karaban really showed up in the 2nd half but why are we calling a play for him to win it in regulation off the dribble. That was just a bad play call. It should of been either Demary or Ball. Glad we won and nice to see us just take it in ovetime. I love what Stewart and Ross bring on defense and hustle but they give us next to nothing on offense including FTs. Our bench for offense is just Reibe as Smith can't even make a layup anymore. I love our starting lineup but we don't have much firepower on the bench when we need some points.

Other teams are learning how to blow up our sets on offense, which leads to us having to play off script / iso at times.
How? By holding? So that offense had a lifespan, or we just don't have the right guys to run it?

One thing that's been said already is we have zero rim runners on this team for the easy dunks, Tarris just doesn't play above the rim at all.

.-.
Solo had 13 of our 30 points when Braylon was playing, then Braylon hit a three with 18 minutes left in regulation to tie the score 33-33. 40 seconds later Braylon was knocked out of the game.

Solo had 13 and Braylon had 8, they had 21 of our 33 points once Braylon left the game.

They've played well together in plenty of other games too. Please stop pushing this nonsensical theme that they don't play well together, it isn't true.

He seems to want to keep the ball in his hands now instead of moving it and getting others involved. The offense just stops because he pounds the ball.

He was pounding the ball a ton in the beginning of the season too. He was just having more success while doing it then vs now. I think OOC there is more room and the game is less physical so he could dribble around forever and eventually find someone open. Now the game is tighter and more physical and he doesn’t have the room to dribble forever and find someone open. He hasn’t really run Hurley’s offense all season and now with a tighter, more physical game it’s not working for him.

1. It's a win
2. Solo. Welcome back.
3. Karaban. Great second half and OT
4. Demary drives the bus for the team
5. Ross may start eating Malachi's minutes. Great D today.
6. How is it Brennan doesn't play for dook? He absolutely plays like a dookey big.
7. Damnit on Mullins. Sit him against PC. Hopefully he is good to go for Creighton.
8. Next

The offense is consisting producing open shots including lay up. We missed 5 lay ups (that's 10 points) in the first half.
