The 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month. Officially WW1 ended. 100,000 American men died on French fields.
Lafayette, we are here. An unwritten promise was fulfilled. Again we did it one June 6th, 1944 starting a bit before midnight on June 5th. Veterans of all wars are now to be honored on Veteran's Day.
On November 9th, I'll return to a craft I learned in the Navy peeling potatoes for the VFW's Aux lunch honoring Veterans.
I have done that for 8 of the last 10 years. I'm not a professional Vet, but it honors me to honor them.

US Army 1967-70. My father was in an Armored Division in WW2 and my son was a Navy Missile Technician in Japan from 2011-17. It’s always noteworthy to see how few veterans there are at home games in Gampel when we are asked to stand. 50 years ago, every male in attendance would be standing.
