That's very nice of you to say. The last four years have been very tough. Our fans have no idea what to think. It's a very sad situation down here. There will be wholesale changes after this season...book it.

With Davis spurning us (even Though that situation is totally messed up) our future doesnt look great either. Appreciate the good times uconn fans...they can end quickly.
I feel for you, Tennfan, the UT fans and, especially, the players. It's the tragedy of the coaching situation seeping through. I as a UConn fan would look forward to the day when the smoke clears and your program is back on its feet.

Everything at Tennessee needs to be rebuilt from the ground up.

The coaching situation has to get straightened out. No interim direction is going to work.

Get in a new coach, get her/his recruits into the program. Get the best S&C coach money can buy. Too many LVs three and four years in the program look out of shape. Someone like Glory who has a naturally athletic build looks terrific, but there are some others who I won't call out who lack tone and seem to get tired.

Tennessee has the fanbase, the TV exposure, and the resources. Just needs someone who can run the program, manage the details, hold everyone accountable, and get everyone to work like they never have before. This isn't something that can be cobbled together with whatever Pat can give and some assistants filling in. This team needs a strong leader of young women like Pat has been for so long. And they need to get tougher physically.

To any of the LV fans posting or reading this, things will get better in Knoxville. But in order for that to happen, people have to acknowledge the core problems rather than lashing out on the senior class or ESPN or any other target. It's possible to be kind but still critical. You can still support and love the program with your eyes open. Keep cheering your team, stay proud of your program's contributions to the sport's history, and keep going to the games. But it's OK to say things aren't right when it's coming from a position of love and pride.

Love your optimism, but the future is most def not bright right now. It's very bleak. At best, it's unknown how the program will handle all of this. There are very large question marks and I just hope they find answers very soon so we don't miss out on a tremendous opportunity to land much needed talent in the 2013 recruiting class.

i totally agree that big changes need to be made and things will work out in knoxville. we have the money and drive...it will be fine. the reality is that a legend is sick. her family and friends are trying to piece together a season and it's not working. she is very brave to carry on this year. i feel for them as humans. pat's program will survive.

What I find so demoralizing from the Tennessee perspective is the quite clear sensation that the team has quit. Glory said to her teammates the other day; climb on my back (or some similar encouragement).
Two things are implied: that she is giving her all, as was apparent tonight (Even the announcers remarked that without her points and effort, Vandy might have been much further ahead in the first half) and that she knows that her teammates are dogging it.

well i think there are certain players who just don't have the normal TN genetic make up. that has been a problem for quite some time. the young players actually seem to be different than that though. but just remember, these are 18yo-22 year old young ladies. they are dealing with a horrendous reality right now. media is all over it and they probably just want to play ball and have fun. not sure how much fun it is to know your coach is ill.

We went through a lot of angst when Diana left. Geno said, "I knew when Diana left the party was over. What I didn't know was that in addition to the party ending, the lights went off when the electricity was cut off, the door got padlocked, and the building was condemned.'

On a serious note the harsh reality is that Pat isn't going to coach for three years and it's a damned shame. Somehow the administration has to delicately retrieve the car keys. I have thought that her son Tyler maybe helpful as a liaison; surely he can see her gradual disengagement and would not want to see her go through another season like this (and likely worse).

Whether the administration hires a man or woman, a member of the LVol family or an outsider, they must act decisively and quickly in order to renew recruiting of talent. The current situation is not working on the court or in the recruiting competition, and the ticking sound is akin to a time bomb about to explode.

We all wish Pat well, don't question that. And just as it takes two to tango, it takes two competitive teams to constitute a rivalry. Good luck, everywhere but Storrs, Connecticut.

Maybe it is just me trying to make a connection to PHS' health when there may not be one, but did anyone catch the quote from PHS that the AP put in the game recap?

PHS said, “I just didn’t think we brought the energy early on, and we didn’t sustain our runs. We didn’t have a whole lot of runs to sustain. We brought the energy early on and we didn’t sustain our runs. We didn’t have a whole lot of runs to sustain …,”

My first reaction was "did she just repeat herself FOUR times?" and then my thoughts turned to her health. Again, maybe I am making too much of it.

And for the record, if this were the pre-diagnosis PHS, I would have yucked it up, but knowing what we know, it makes me a little...bad/sad.

I had the same reaction, this was obviously a stressful game, stress is a big problem when suffering from this disease. You want to support whatever decision Pat makes regarding her coaching career, I'm starting to wonder if her stubborn side is why she has not publiclly announced she will step down which definitely is affecting the progression of the disease and her overall health.

I thought it must be an AP typo. If that is the actual transcript its remarkably telling.

I now see why some TN fans chose to come here..... a whole 19 page game thread was deemed inappropriate on another board...Axed...

I believe it had grown to 26 pages and had a ton of player, coaches and anything else orange bashing.

One as of yet undiscussed aspect of the continued fallout of the once dominating program is the current shape of key players.
Like the situ that unfolded in Boston after that catastrophe, several of the key players seem puffy and much slowed.
In the case of Vickie, one can have a measure of sympathy as her knees are obviously bothering her (but could it be that if she was fitter, her knees would be less painful?)
But for some of the others, weight gain is apparent and reaction time is way down. At some point there will be an expose as in Beantown.
Again, as in Boston, it all comes down to the coaches losing control of the program, which is apparent to anyone with a pair of eyes (mine were surgically repaired and are better than new).

I am shocked by how terrible our team is right now. They cannot play cohesive team offense (no surprise there really) and cannot play disciplined defense ( huge surprise there).

If shots don't fall, they all hang their heads and sulk. Their d and board play suffers, and we get blown out. This season is really really sad. I think our board is at a complete loss. I've been a fan of the lady vols for 20 years now, and I've never seen a team as bad as we are right now. It's horribly depressing. Maybe you guys can lay off us? ;) I know...not likely.

WHAT???!!!! Have you ever been to the Summitt? Fans there make ever possible attempt to bash Geno and our team. I think the best thing to do is not read our posts like most of us here ignore the Summitt.

To the TN fans posting here - I am really glad you come and share your perspective, and I hope you recognize that almost all the posters on this board take no joy in the situation with Pat. We may gloat a little about what is happening on your board, or the team's losses, but we certainly are not happy with what has happened to a great WCBB coach. We are obviously more dispassionate bout the situation than you can be and perhaps more realistic.
Anyway, thanks for visiting, and here is hoping that TN resolves their situation at the end of the season and can begin rebuilding. A strong TN is good for the game.

That was my thought, someone garbled the transcription.
