Hey, if there is a UConn mafia in the W I say eccellente!
Agreed. Everyone in my season ticket group is appalled. I wrote to my rep and to their credit he wrote back with a pretty thorough explanation within 24 hours, though I don't think they really appreciate just how bad this looks. JVL was the biggest cheerleader for us coming in, and before it was clear how well our team would do, was a major factor in building the culture and the hype. In that sense, it really stings, even if I don't necessarily disagree with the choice to cut her over KC and especially LA, who's been playing lights out.I can see both sides of the situation, to a degree. I get that Golden State's basic instinct was to say thank you in person before releasing her, which on paper seems honorable. However, anyone with a computer and a brain knew she was at Eurobasket, and was leaving the celebration to get back to California so she could play, only to be released.
IMHO bad move by the Valkyries - first misstep they've made IMHO. And for Nakase to double down on the decision reflects poorly on her. To now even acknowledge how it must have made Julie feel - shame on the Valkyries and the HC.
On the flip side, thrilled for Kaitlyn. Perseverance paid off for her! I do feel like I can hold both things in my hand - happiness for Kaitlyn, and disappointment in the entire Valkyries management and HC.

I saw that. Hopefully they aren’t getting ready to waive her.Chen with a "DNP - coach's decision" last night. Just a rest day (or she's slightly banged up) or something else? From what I can tell from box scores it seems like she's been a solid contributor off the bench.
Ok, I dug deeper and I guess one of the backup PGs that's been injured (could be why they signed Chen to begin with) recently got activated and is playing again.I saw that. Hopefully they aren’t getting ready to waive her.
Maybe a Hus-ger, or a Tig-sky?Love Kaitlyn's game. Solid. Always up and always scrapping for the ball. She played an important part for our run to the NC this year and Geno readily says so.
Wonder if Kaitlyn considers herself a Husky or a Tiger? Maybe a combo. A Husky with Tiger stripes or a Tiger with a Husky coat?![]()

Perhaps a trade is in the works ... Chen straight across for Ogunbowale?I saw that. Hopefully they aren’t getting ready to waive her.
Yeah, looks like she's there to stay. So, this morning the Valkyries put forward Stephanie Talbott on waivers so that they could keep Kaitlyn Chen! Perfect, perfect, perfect! Paige and the Wings are coming to Ballhalla in about a week and we are going over for it, I can't wait to watch that one.
Chen Survives Another Cut!
Before reading your post, I just assumed that a Valkyrie was some kind of female warrior in Norse mythology. I must confess that now that I know exactly what a Valkyrie actually is, it doesn’t quite hold the same cache as a team nickname……Am I the only one who is lacking in their knowledge of Norse mythology? Always was curious why this name was chosen.
Valkyrie, in Norse mythology, any of a group of maidens who served the god Odin and were sent by him to the battlefields to choose the slain who were worthy of a place in Valhalla.

The good news is that I learned something…..![]()
This is good enough for me, plus when you add in Wagner's Ride Of The Valkyries, you've got your soundtrack made. That it appeared in Apocalypse Now adds to the toughness of the theme. Then only drawback is that the tune was used for the "Attack Of The Killer Tomatoes" movie.
