USF…. (Merged threads)

That's nice. Honestly, I didn't know one way or the other.
You must have missed last year’s game when UCONN WBB clobbered USF WBB.

I don't even remember you in the AAC.
You don’t remember when USFMBB beat UCONN? I can understand.

Winning two national championships since then will do that. Does USF win national championships n anything?
Only in sailing and a few individual NCAA track events. I doubt you really care about this. You’re just trying to make a point. I bow to your basketball national championships. (I’m a Georgia grad and I do know a thing or two about national championships in football).

After a while, they all become a blur.... 😉

Honestly, though, Jose Fernandez was one of the better basketball coaches in the old ACC and a friend of Geno, I believe.

Yes, Jose and Geno always go out to dinner at some point during the game trips. This year, in Tampa.

How does AAC have more P4 wins than ACC? Am I misreading that?
Or is the article misstating something like out of conference P4 wins maybe?
Only possible now because conference play isn’t full on. After that, ACC beating ACC will make it much different.

Yeah but look at ACC standings.
The top two team are 3-0 in conference. That’s 6 wins against p4. If you go down standings, that’s 13 wins presumably against p4 teams.
Does AAC have 14 P4 wins?

Article cited is dated 10-2, so doesn’t include this weekend.

To understand the challenge with the USF's of the world, take a look at UCF joining the Big 12. Here are their conference record for the major sports since joining the Big 12:

Football 6-16
Men's basketball: 14-24
Women's basketball: 7-29
Baseball: 23-36

UCF focused on football and they had 5 ranked seasons in the 25 years before joining the Big 12 which got them the Big 12 invite, but their athletic department was not P4 ready. With football kind of struggling, they need to invest more in football but what does that mean for their other sports that also need investment to compete?

True there may be a challenge but I doubt UCF or anyone else cares. UCF received $21 million in its first year in the Big XII while paying its exit fee to the American. It will start receiving a full share this year, based on what I've just read. That should be more than enough to help its situation and at least puts it in a much better financial situation than when it was in the AC. Plus being in the Big XII has to really help recruiting in every sport.

Based on USA Today UCF's finances ($89 million budget) are very similar to UConn's ($99 million) with both receiving large allocations
