Dawn has never scheduled easy and has frequently played a schedule as tough, or tougher, than Geno.It is hard to argue that Mulkey has not been successful . . . Maybe the women’s game doesn’t need this consideration anymore? I think it still does and hope Dawn, Vic, etc. follow the Geno model.
I like how you looked at Mulkey's ways from the perspective of the fans, the sport itself and the players. IMO we all need to do that. Aren't we all interested in an improved WCBB product on the court? Watching her play some Louisiana Sisters of the Poor is a bastardization of the sport.those are rationalizations.
the important point, it seems to me, is that mulkey is disrespecting the SPORT and FANS by INTENTIONALLY playing as many non-competitive teams as possible. i am amazed the media, coaches and the public let her skate on this conduct.
plus, her players -- many of them topnotch -- don't get the chance to prove their talents. a team (and players) should not be judged on potential, but performance. if I was an LSU supporter, i would be disgusted by mulkey's tactics.
The bicentennial class! I remember that class.I'm HS class of 76
She also committed 3 fouls in those 16 minutes. Same M.O. that she had against UConn both games last season. One thing I find interesting about LSU is that neither of Kim’s hired guns had much of an impact in last nights game. Koval played only 17 minutes, scored 1 basket and had 2 rebounds. Fulwiley, who supposedly left SC for greener pastures at LSU, played about 16 minutes, was 1/6 from the floor and watched the end of the game from the bench.
LSU wasn’t undefeated? Maryland wasn’t undefeated?Don't understand what you are pointing out. None of these 4 teams were undefeated prior to yesterday.

I bolded the teams I was posting about.LSU wasn’t undefeated? Maryland wasn’t undefeated?
? Difficult to interpret. The clear implication of your post was that “None of these 4 (losing) teams were undefeated prior to yesterday.”I bolded the teams I was posting about.

I apologize, I thought the bolded four teams designated which teams I was asking about. You added (losing). So, IMO, that was the clear implication.? Difficult to interpret. The clear implication of your post was that “None of these 4 (losing) teams were undefeated prior to yesterday.”
Cupcake season used to be SOP for a handful of coaches, with Kim being the poster child. Aside from Geno, Dawn, Vic and a few others, cupcake season has permeated college basketball throughout the P4 conferences, for a number of reasons:Dawn has never scheduled easy and has frequently played a schedule as tough, or tougher, than Geno.
To me, skim is cheating her own fanbase by not scheduling better opponents in the conference preseason
Swords and Olson were on fire vs UConn. Last night they shot a combined 11/35. MI lives and dies by their 3-pt shooting. Last night it killed them.Michigan doesn't look good. Seen 'em play 4 times now. They pressed very little against Oregon and only at the end yesterday. Why? They are very average in the half court. Even looks like Swords can't get her own shot. What's coach doing? They gotta run to be special.
I blame Geno a tad regarding UConn's 4th Q collapse against them. I think he did the 'ole, "let them figure it out strategy". We know Azzi is clutch at least. (did we already know that?)
Same with Louisville. Remember that little collapse? They just ran out of time. Could ND go off on us like these two teams did?
Will a Michigan crash hurt UConn's ranking? Maybe UConn flourishes as a 2 seed.
They were able to exploit that aspect because they sped us up with their up-tempo. Teams are not standing around making 3’s on UConn (until the 4th Q “turkey time”. I was there. It got hectic and Swords started hoisting up shots that went in. I also watched the MI-ND game which was wild.Cupcake season used to be SOP for a handful of coaches, with Kim being the poster child. If UConn's games with ND or Tennessee are close. we can forget about them winning the NC this season. Michigan would not have looked good against UConn if UConn had hit just half of their open shots. Michigan's defense did not stop UConn. For some reason, sometimes UConn has struggled in the third quarter against even weak teams. Almost every game in which UConn has scored 25 or more points in the first quarter, they seem to just coast the rest of the game.Michigan doesn't look good. Seen 'em play 4 times now. DDW, you’re not a “doom & gloomer.” While I expect the Huskies to readily handle ND & TN, regardless of the outcome, UConn’s chance of winning #13 are exceptionally strong. If UConn's games with ND or Tennessee are close. we can forget about them winning the NC this season. We need Vandy to lose so that UConn covers everything east of the Mississippi River…. 😉
Yeah, but it's worth celebrating Brenda's team losing whenever!😍LSU wasn’t undefeated? Maryland wasn’t undefeated?
LSU was undefeated until yesterdays loss to KY.LSU wasn’t undefeated? Maryland wasn’t undefeated?
Until Sunday when they play a highly motivated LSU team....Also, Shea's OOC was pretty pathetic as well (worse than LSU's) so I expect a loss at home to LSU.Pretty cool that Shea's Vandy squad is among the undefeated.
I just don't get that statement. So by only playing other top P4 teams would she grow the game? Have you seen the attendance figures that Kim has generated since arriving at LSU? I think playing many of the mid-majors and getting fans in the seats is just as important, if not more so than playing Stanford, UCLA or USC with only 3200 fans while her games garner 10,000It is hard to argue that Mulkey has not been successful with her approach, for her teams and herself. Yet, the piece that has always been missing is a sensitivity as to how Baylor and now LSU could make more of a contribution to the growth of the game. The contrast between Geno and Kim could not be more stark. Maybe the women’s game doesn’t need this consideration anymore? I think it still does and hope Dawn, Vic, etc. follow the Geno model.
