UConn's Big East Rival Will Be ............

Come on. So much garbage here.

I wonder if Nova would make the UNC list of top 30 rivals?

If we were going to just stick in big time programs in for a couple of good past games, then Uconn will add Kentucky and Duke.
You might be the only person with half a brain on this board, run!

We are just banging Mrs. Wormer while you’re visiting regionals. BTW, I just love the cockiness, just going to be that much sweeter to see you get your azzes handed to you.
“Fat, drunk, and stupid is no way to go through life, son”! But it makes you a typical PC fan! :)

See we earned our cockiness out on the court where it counts. How about your program actually win more than one tournament game every decade, and then come talk smack?
And as for the missus, she’s a lush so you can have her. Just stay away from my daughter! LOL

I don't think we're being cocky. I'm sure UConn will lose to PC sometimes. But I just don't see us being big rivals. That's all I'm saying. When was the last time these 2 teams played an important game where both teams were good? I think you need that for it to be a rivalry. They were both in the Big East for over 30 years and when did you consider them to be big rivals?

I generally agree that a good rivalry never really developed, but it certainly got a little heated in the Ryan Gomes era.

our #4 and #5 rivals are UMass and BC.
They are not today, but projecting forward they should be. You should schedule them in both sports every year and build a rivalry.

Today you are not on a position to dominate them in football. Maybe someday.

Most say PC.....I would say Georgetown, up 6 games on UConn. Looking at the Butler board...... recent post, they want a piece of UConn.

The program which our fans will see live most often, whether at XL, Gampel, or MSG. I don't expect we'll be playing at Carnesecca Arena, like the PC visitors.

Ah yes you are, no biggie it is deserved but I’m here to tell you, times have changed despite our NCAA record and I know you know that. As far as rivalries go they will be what they are. If we continue to be near the top of the BE every year like we have been almost and you guys can get good again then we probably will be rivals if we falter or you don’t get it figured out then the games won’t matter.

The older folks here will remember the double round robin. That itself leads to war. You guys got good after that went away.

Providence. Always a great rivalry with hard fought games, even when we were the much better team.
I concur. Providence has always been a pain in the ass. My first choice would be Syracuse, one of the programs I respect the most. Alas, we don't play them at all. That needs to be fixed.

This. Many in the series were under 10pt games. They held their own at home. The advantage was at our place which included hard fought games.

27-38 UConn leads the series, but not bad for PC. Since the realignment of the BE, PC I believe is second or third in conference wins behind Villanova.

Why even respond? It’s PC - they can’t get out of first round. It’s like playing my little sister 1 on 1. I always rooted for them and all big East teams once they made the tournament they re no threat to us. It’s not even a debate
Maybe not in the old BE.....things have changed

Not saying that Providence won’t be better than us or beat us but given the last 30 years what makes any providence fan think they can even come close to talking trash to a Uconn fan?

Responding to you guys is not talking trash. Are we required to bow or curtsy? Maybe kiss the rings? Tulsa never figured that out apparently.

Maybe the PC home game during the Dream Season? They were good that year, fighting for a spot in the dance. Their fans left to the sound of 1000's of UConn fans chanting "P-C N-I-T!"
I still chant that, often for no reason at all. It just pops into my head.

Tulsa has won 4 times as many tournament games as PC has in the past 20 years.
Well that explains why they owned you I guess. No fealty required from them.

This is every interaction I’ve ever had with Providence fans

a rivalry isn't a unilateral decision, the other school needs to feel the same way. we'll probably need to win at least one big east chip, preferably by beating Nova, before they'll begin to concede we're a legit threat to their conference dominance

no one was talking about football here, yourself included... if that were part of the calculus then you forgot to include Drexel and U Delaware on Nova's list of rivals. the colonial conference lol.

Maybe don't bring up programs who are way more accompished than you on the national stage for the past couple decades if you're trying to put your program in a good light.

Nova won 2 regular season Big East titles in the last 30 years before the league broke up and 1 conference tournament championship in those 30 years. They should be kissing our stones that the conference broke up. We'll be right there with them really soon and take over again.

i get all that but past performance isnt indicative of future success. no one cares anymore that UCLA won 11 chips or that IU won 5. i'm as optimistic as anyone but we need to earn back the respect we lost not just take it for granted

Already have another thread on this. The answer is Nova.

We never had a natural rival and it became Cuse because we were the two best. Nova and UConn will be the two best and it will get the marquee tv slots and become a rivalry.
We did have a Big East rival named BCU. But after bludgeoning them 22 times consecutively, it became more of a mercy rivalry.

I think the consensus is right this time: Nova and PC. But top to bottom, this is going to be a brutal conference day in and day out.

Yes, Tulsa is more accomplished than us. Good call. You guys should have stayed where you were. Can't wait though. It's coming...

Nova has their hands full with that Kansas rivalry anyways
