Connecticut has now compiled or broken the seven longest home winning streaks in history:
99, 98, and 69 by Connecticut, Stanford's 81, South Carolina's 71, and 69 by Baylor and Tennessee.
No one does it like UConn.

Found a new way to help UCONN WBB today... Some may recall my habit of drinking Mike's Hard Lemonade, Mango Flavor, during UCONN games...and it helps!!! humor me ok ..

Today, when it was back and forth in Q1, I added Wheat Thins, Tomato and Basil flavor...and, we all saw the result...total beat down. My NEW go to for drinks and snacks during future UCONN WBB games!!!

Just doin' my little part to help

Well... who could have predicted that? Q1 was really solid, Q2 a thing of beauty, Q3 - I thought SC might blitz us after the halftime lecture I'm sure Dawn gave them, and frankly I didn't care what happened in Q4 - the damage was done. But... we basically outplayed them in EVERY quarter. Holy cow!!

I'm not going to speak in hyperbole regarding the future this season, nor even discuss it. Just going to enjoy this game, which to me was totally unexpected. 3 things shocked me in the first half:
  • Jana's play, AND going 2-2 from the FT line
  • Ash going 3-3 from 3
  • All of that lead was done with average output from Paige and Azzi
Then obviously Azzi caught fire and showed us the potential she has. Every player contributed. Even in an off shooting night for Paige (3-12, but a double-double and a host of boards), this TEAM still played great for a hard fought and well earned win. A couple shout outs...
  • Azzi in the 2nd half - just wow
  • Jana battled
  • Sarah with a double double
  • Ash on fire in the first half
  • Kait was solid
  • Paige was a real leader in spite of an off-shooting night
  • KK was a terror
  • Aubrey made some FT's, got several assists and rebounds
  • Our rebounding was fierce
Just gonna bask in the glow of this tremendous win. Possibly the best non-NCAA tourney win in a LONG time.
For those 37 voters that predicted SC to win on PROGNOSTICATOR'S PREDICTIONS Game 27 : Hi, Huskies BYder "Not So Faithfuls", HAVE SOME FAITH on our dear HUSKIES ! ! !

One of the biggest things today was our rebounding edge. By not allowing SC to get a lot of second chance points we were able to get out in transition and make their defense chase a lot. Chase down court. Chase to get back into position. Chase to find the correct player to guard.

On offense things opened up for us for a lot of reasons, but not allowing SC to get back on defense and set up was a big one.

Big hats off to Geno, he had the team ready, and the team had his back. There was no move that SC tried that Geno wasn't ready for. He pulled the strings and the players beautifully implemented his counter moves. From top to bottom the Huskies ruled. Hope it portends what's to come for the rest of the season, and beyond.

2 out of 3 works for me Dawn. Texas beats them, Eagles win and the Eagles-clad Coach Staley gets a good old fashioned beat down from our ladies. Asst Coach wearing USC jacket - go JuJu!!

If they had showed that kind of dominance this season against their other out of conference foes, many people would have picked them, but the realty is this was their best game by far and not the norm for this team this season. I hope they continue their upward trajectory.

There was lots to love about this game. My favorite was the game that Jana played. This may be one of those games that gives her the confidence to just act and not think too much. We may well have seen the beginning of a great career for her, as well as the key to our going a long way this year. Way to go, Jana!

Reading all the comments prior to this game in other threads I can't believe nearly everyone who had conceded this game? I've watched SC play a few games this year and I think they're as beatable as anyone is this year.

Was unable to watch game. Just read on X that we clobbered USC. I am admittedly shocked and expected another humbling loss.

Today shows the country that the Huskies are Title contenders.

Fudd is such a huge key to take pressure off Paige. But deep down, it's Sarah and Jana we need big time to pull this off.

Wow.

Few Thoughts:
*Wow Wow Wow...i doubt anyone thought in their wild dreams that UConn will play this well, make SC look so pedestrian and win by 29 points.
*The defense was outstanding and made SC into a one-on-one team (only 7 assists) while UConn played like a well cohesive team! or as Dawn said: playing beautiful basketball!
*I was expecting SC to go on a huge run at one point or another because UConn till this game had an issue with playing really well for 40 min. Not in this game! UConn had outstanding 39 min. and every little run by SC was responded to by UConn.
*Azzi: the fact that she couldn't hit in the first half (2 for 10) but came out in the second half and had an amazing game bodes real well for the future! THe best player on the floor and she was scoring in different ways mixing the 3 pointers with going to the basket with authority.
*Paige: had a bad shooting game and some puzzling turnovers but her presence is what makes the team tick! and she did get a double double!
*Sarah: somewhat quiet double double but she is so reliable and clearly the big game didn't faze her.
*Ash: her first half was amazing. a fighter!
*Jana: we can see her growth from game to game. Big, strong. a real good game from her!
*KC: solid game.
*KK: a Deamon on defense and fighting for those boards.
*Aubrey: it is a great benefit to have her back healthy. Still shaky on offense but great fighting and defending.
*Geno and the coaching staff; great job preparing the team and making adjustments during the game.
*UConn is a title contender if they hit thier outside shots. The defense is top notch and being able to control the boards against SC is a real good sign for the future!
*This is the confidence booster win UConn needed to get closer to its potential this season!
*Was it not great that UConn was able to have such an amazing win after all the commentators chose SC to win...

Guess all the folks predicting a blowout were right after all
