UConn vs Michigan (Championship)

UConn shoots above average from 3
Mich shoots below average from 3
Mich foul trouble
Yaxel 50%

Give me 3 out of the 4 and I think we win. Give me 2 and we lose but cover. Give me none and we lose by 20 lol.
This ended up holding true. Too bad.

This season was an incredible success in my opinion. We extended our season as far as it can go and that win over Duke was so sweet. It hurts to finally lose a game in the Final Four, but I will always remember this season by the shot that made it all possible to get to the final as well as rip the ugly heart out of everything Duke.

It's been a tough couple of months if you're a Pats and Uconn fan.
Something about getting #7. I’m actually a Steelers fan but they’ve been stuck on #6 since 2009, and Pats and Huskies got beat trying for #7.

It was a great game by ball, good game plan. Just needed to make a couple more 3s and michigan ti miss more FTs
I think on one of the Monday talk shows, Fanta literally said, "UConn needs to make 10... no, 11 threes to win." If Karaban hits that last shot, we foul and they hit, say, one free throw of two, then we hit a buzzer-beater three-pointer, we'd have hit 11 threes and won by one point. I don't think we'd have done well in overtime, though, with Demary having fouled out.

And it's been a pretty good couple of months if you're a Seahawks and UConn fan (a much smaller subset, I'll grant you). Frankly, I think it'd have been worse for us to lose another SB to the Pats (and as a favorite who had traveled a much tougher road schedule-wise) than it was for you to lose this one, given that y'all have won six and one was a franchise-defining loss for us. And as much as I'm a UConn fan/alum, I can step back and see that it would have been tougher for Michigan fans for them to lose yet another NC game (and as a big favorite) than it was for us to lose our first in seven tries. UConn basketball and the Patriots do take up a LOT of space, and some of their conquests are entities like San Diego State or the Atlanta Falcons that have no title trophies to show for their efforts.

After listening to Dusty May on 4 different radio talk shows yesterday- the guy is a wolf in sheep clothing- a complete DB. He and The Squid are twins

How we played agianst Michigan is how Purdue wished they played against us in 2024. We didnt win. Michigan was too much. But we dictated a style. Made it close.

Against Purdue in 2024 we basically played the same game we had played in the previous tournament games

Yeah, we were the only team in the tourney that was able to slow down their fine-oiled machine offense. Arizona, who was one of the few teams that (at least on paper) could match up with Michigan inch for inch, got completely blown out of the water and would have likely given up 100+ points if not for the walk-ons coming in the game with several minutes left in the game.

We imposed our will on them, kept clawing back even when the deficit ballooned to double digits, and exchanged blows up until the last few seconds. Just needed to make a few more buckets but unfortunately we didn't.

If Ball and Demary don’t get saddled with insane foul trouble, I think we play them even. On the flip side, if Cadeau gets tagged for those few really obvious fouls, Michigan may be chasing the game.

This one will really make you dislike Greg - his view kicks in at about 35 minutes.

I’ll never understand why you post him so much here.

The guy is irrelevant. He doesn’t even average 1k views per video. He has like a Dollar Tree F68. He’s a Big10 shill. The short whiny voiced guy up there is even worse. Carter should get as far away from them as possible. I’d rather you post Zanetto lmao

Photo from postgame I found on The Athletic. Damn.

I understand the emotions immediately after the game. These guys have nothing to hang their heads about. They made UConn Nation proud and went out on their shield. I will say it again now and many more times in the future. This 2026 season was a resounding success. They made Michigan sweat and work for it.

Later edit: Look at how Michigan was demolishing teams this year and in the 5 games in the NCAAT prior to the National Championship game. Michigan could never breathe easy knowing the game wasn't fully put away until the end and you can sense how uneasy the Michigan fans and UConn haters were when Ball cut the lead to 4 with 37 seconds left, and then when McKinney (or maybe someone else) missed 2 FTs and UConn had the ball. There was a sigh of relief for them when Karaban missed that 3 to cut the lead to 1.
UConn's reputation in the NCAAT is now on the level of New York Yankees in the dynasty years in October, New England during their dynasty years in January, and Manchester United under Alex Ferguson. Don't believe me? Read the other teams blogs during the National Championship game. These team blogs would include Duke, North Carolina, Syracuse, St. John's., etc.

Interesting coincidence. I’m convinced Hurley gets another.
Yeah, I don't think 7 is some kind of magic number. The 49ers have been stuck on 5 for a while, and have lost three Super Bowls trying for 6. The Giants, Red Sox and Dodgers, meanwhile, have all gotten World Series title #7 for the franchise in recent years.
