UConn v. USF @ J.O.C. (Fri. 5/10 @ *3p*, *Sat. 5/11 > Double Header Gm 1 @ 11a/Gm 2 @ 2:45*)

It very rarely pays to try to get the guy at 3B on a bunt. Get the sure out at 1B, you're better off. Otherwise, too much traffic on the bases if you don't get any outs.

Double play gets Kersten out of trouble in the top of the 5th with no score.
Agree, not a good decision by Kersten especially since it would have been the 2nd out at first. Winkel with another great defensive play. Maybe the defensive play will inspire his offense.

Unfortunately, even if we make the tourney, if this offense doesn't turnaround quickly it will be a two and done.

This team reminds me of Edsall's teams in the late 2000's - they win, but in the ugliest way possible in a manner that probably isn't sustainable.

(2009 squad excluded, that team was damn good)

Man that wind is gusting to right. Can one of the Winkle boys just get one up in that jet stream please.

Top 6th, a 1-2-3 inning for Kersten. No walks for him so far, so that is good. 69 pitches for Kersten.

When he is throwing strikes and defense is making plays behind him, it is hard for a mediocre offensive team to string 3 or more hits together to score runs. He is perfect vs. a team like USF.

Their starter has a high pitch count, but this isn't someone you usually WANT out of the game...ugh

The one thing we have done well is put the ball in play - we just don't usually hit it very hard.
