Good observation.

Thanks.

So Phillips is at 3B in a game Kersten is starting. Shows you how far Longer and Moriarty have fallen in the eyes of the coaching staff. It's a gamble to get more offense in the lineup, just have to hope it doesn't backfire in the field behind Kersten.

Bottom 1st, Prato gets a 1 out walk, but nothing else happening for UConn that inning. Christian Fedko with another strikeout to close out the inning, the fifth of this series so far for him.

Top 2nd, another 1-2-3 inning for Kersten, including 2 strikeouts. No score. Very efficient so far with 19 pitches.

Top 3rd, with runners on the corners and 1 out, Chris Winkel comes up with another nice fielding play catching a line drive and turning it into a double play to end the inning. No score.

Bottom 3rd, a one out Chris Winkel walk and Toppa reaches on an error, so UConn has a threat going. Prato singles, but Toppa gets thrown out on a bad running play by him. 2 out, and two on base. Woodworth grounds out to end the inning. No score.

How many of those for Toppa this year? Too many for a Senior. He seems to lead the team is these boneheaded plays.

I'm inclined to think Chris Winkel and Woodworth have Toppa beat in this category, but I could be wrong.

Veteran players cannot be making crushimg mistakes on the basepaths in the middle of May. That cannot happen.

Kersten looks good - he is even getting some strikeouts.

And by the way, can we get a camera person who knows what their doing? Keep getting a blury view. Pop up to right side and they zoom in on Shortstop. Half the time the ball is hit the camera view doesn't change so you can't see the play.

Top 4th, a single followed by three strikeouts by Kersten to end the inning. No score. 5 strikeouts for Kersten on the day, and 49 pitches so far.

Hopefully the camera angles/persons are upgraded when we move to ESPN+.

This is another dude that came in with an inflated ERA. At this point, the offense is what it is.

Bottom 4th, Kyler Fedko with a 2 out single, but that is it for the Huskies. Like I said before, tough to score in an inning when the first batter gets on with 2 out.

It very rarely pays to try to get the guy at 3B on a bunt. Get the sure out at 1B, you're better off. Otherwise, too much traffic on the bases if you don't get any outs.

Double play gets Kersten out of trouble in the top of the 5th with no score.
