I'm glad Geno is doing this. They really need to develop and this is the game to do it.
Or for them to realize why they simply aren't getting more PT. Aside from Stevens, the reserves are 0-9. Walker has 4 points from FT's tho.

For all the people who were so critical of why Geno didn't play any of the reserves more vs. Texas, when you get zero offensive production from 5 players, it's not a good thing. Still, good game for the reserves to see where they are deficient. And what/if they are doing anything well...

It’s one of those, “Damn if you do, damn if you don’t.” Somehow we’ve become so judgmental of Geno. It’s like he didn’t know how to Coach all of a sudden per the board .

Exactly! I think after 11 National Championships the guy knows what he's doing. Who are we to second guess him?

Could be worse. The Louisville Globetrotters lead Pitt by 4 at the half.

Geno, I feel your pain.[/QUOTE]

Nan, pray for me that I have the strength to follow your suggestions on what not to post.

I think he proved his point but playing the bench at one time is bound to be messy...............now bring them in one or two at a time with the starters and see what happens..............KLS doesn't need to return to the game as far as I'm concerned...............

Well, just call me a broken record, but why put them all in at once? put in one or two so that they get the experience of playing with the best. If Geno just decides that the starters (200 minutes/6 "starters" = 33 minutes each) get instead 15-20 minutes each and the rest goes to benchers being rotated through with 2-3 starters, then the benchers get a real chance to play competitive ball. Of course, I didn't sleep in a Holiday Inn Express last night, so maybe Geno does know more than I.

Yes. "Hey I'm just trying to get people playing time, you know? I guess we gotta find out at some point what we got and there's no better time than right now. These guys had a tough game Monday night and I thought this would be a great time to do that. Think we're going back with the starters in the 3rd quarter."

So. The Grand experiment ends. By putting in 4 subs, the result was preordained. I don't see how this helped. Put in max 2 subs and three starters and you have a chance. Anyway, I wonder what will be the plan in the 4th quarter?

I think the bench defense was a little worse than the offense. They need to keep working at it.

Excluding Stevens, the Bench shot 0-9 in the 2nd quarter. Megan went 4-4 from the Free Throw Line. Thus the only points the reserved scored. The bench tied Tulsa 16-16 in the 2nd quarter. Has to be disappointing for the Players and the Geno.

Recording the game while my wife is on the phone with our daughter. Following it on ESPN gamecast. Z was a turnover machine, it seemed. Three offensive rebounds in a row for Tulsa before Walker grabbed one for UConn. Lots of missed opportunities. Pheesa coming back in seemed to settle things down a bit. Sounds like no one from the bench came close to distinguishing themselves. Disappointing, to say the least. Most of them destined to go to the end of the bench, it seems.

Maybe they'll improve with a few more games under their belts but I have feeling Geno's patience will run out before then.

It looks like six deep in March, sad to say.
