Top 3rd, with 1 out and 2 runners on base, an RBI single for Rutgers that puts runners on the corners, 4-2 UConn. After a strikeout by Sears for the 2nd out, a wild pitch brings in another run. 4-3 UConn. Inning ends on another strikeout.
Think they are breaking new people in…early in the home season.
I would give Quiggers a fresh inning here but going back to Ellisen would be understandable.
Bottom 5th, David Smith with a leadoff walk and another stolen base. UConn loads the bases with no outs, all on freebies. Pitching change, so UConn is into the bullpen. Studley sac fly makes it 5-3 UConn, putting runners on the corners with 1 out. Broadhurst follows with another sac fly, 6-3 UConn.
Great job/focus by Hyde!Top 7th, Rutgers gets 2 runners in scoring position with 2 outs. A single brings in a run, the second runner is thrown out at the plate by Smith. 6-4 UConn. Play is being reviewed for possible interference by the catcher Hyde, but from the replay I saw, no question in my mind that the runner was out. And he is ruled out.
Great job/focus by Hyde!
