this UCSD team seem to be battling us inning to inning. You don't know exactly what we faced - Pitching depth - at Pepperdine or USC; but this team is grinding both on defense + offense. Hits. Not a lot of bs walks and errors. When you consider they were at a lower division recently - playing Cal State East Bay; Stanislaus; Cal State Dominguez Hills etc - this is quite an upgrade. Impressive.

Top 9th, Simmons with a leadoff double, Fedko pinch hits for Ferrer who did not have a hit the last 2 days. Fedko draws a walk, Korey Morton pinch runs for Fedko (a traditional move a this point), Donlan pinch hits for Garbowski with no outs. Pitching change.

According to Chris Jones, the Tritons were one of the top baseball teams in Division 2 before they upgraded to Division 1.

Chudoba gets two quick outs, then gives up a base hit. Great job Cole! Just 1 out away now.

Looks like Coe is coming out to try to ice this off.

Bottom 9th, Chudoba gets the first 2 outs, then allows a single. Pitching change, LHP Brendan O'Donnell coming in to face a lefty batter.

Excellent work out of the bullpen from Chudoba and O'Donnell today. Chudoba did quite well in the Cape Cod League this past summer, and O'Donnell is due to play on the Cape this coming summer, so I've been waiting see some solid contributions from the both of them. If they continue to produce positive results on the mound, it really helps to get the UConn bullpen in nice shape.

In California, I am certain that is a huge step. They are in the Big West Conference I see ... so Long Beach, CS Fullerton, Irvine, Hawaii etc. Seems like they jumped concurrent with Covid; so a messy few years transition. UCDS - by the way - is one of the best academic University of California universities; great in Health sciences and engineering (and some of these baseball players are engineering majors).
