UConn Transfers Out Performances With New Teams

I was told that joly was our highest paid player with his package at 85k with UConn. When he went to NC State he got a nice bump up to 450,000. He left for the money
So Joly is minimum of +$650k in 2 years(probably more) over his UConn NIL. Even if doesn't make the NFL(he will) I'm sure you finance guys could take that $650k and invest it for him at age 22 and make it work for a lifetime.

Do you really think that players of that caliber that get overlooked dream of playing out their days at the Rent?

They left for the exposure and of course money plays into it. You would make exactly the same decision.

Well the first thing I would do is tell him to pay taxes. North Carolina state income tax is 4.4%. So his gross annual income is $410K, if the numbers provided are correct. Not assuming deductions, not worth the time, his income tax is 39.4% leaving him with approximately $250K per year. If he makes the NFL he made the right decision. If he does not make the NFL he made the right decision. Hope he invested most of that money. However, even if he invests the entire amount, it will not last a lifetime.

I guess all these kids have agents, hopefully the agent comes with an accountant for tax advice.

The agents are often like the player’s roommate.
Not sure of the scale for BB/FB players, I'm sure it is a wide range from a backup FB lineman to 2mil for Clingan year 2 (from a very reliable source). If that is the case for alot of these kids Zoo, then they may be in for a shock when the "Revenooers" catch up with them down the road.

I am sure there will be some pretty hilarious stories in a few years.

I’ll repeat my basic rule. If you’re down the depth chart and you move, total respect and wish you great success. If you have PT and enjoy success here and bail, you’re dead to me. I hate low-loyalty sellouts … kids, coaches, ADs… doesn’t matter.

Do you hate the ones who got PT and enjoyed success elsewhere and then transfer here?

You forgot to deduct his agent’s fees. It’s real money, but there are a lot of hands out when those checks roll in.
