looking forward to finally seeing this place...heard rave reviews. I will be unloading the football tix and not thinking twice about it

I was at that game. There were 9.000 people there total for all four teams.

You disagree with the premise that Barclays center doesn't care about selling tickets? explain that one to me.

Uh, why is that funny? 40,000 people who pay money to go out and support UConn will be at the rent. To boot, about half of those people have season tickets, so it's not even a question of this or that when you already bought "that".
 
There are a lot of UConn basketball fans who don't care about UConn football. I think that fact is unfortunate, but it is reality. A lot of it will depend on how good the football team is. People will be more likely to travel to Brooklyn to see a fresh and exciting basketball team if we're subjected to more of what we've seen the last two years in football.

If we're a national school like we say we are, we should be able to pack the Rent and bring people to Brooklyn. If we don't have more than 40,000 fans, we're ducked anyway.

I paid 100 bucks for four at mid court in the 25th row between games. There was no one in the two rows in front of me. NCSU has many fans as UConn did anyway. It was nowhere near 'not quite a sell out'.

Exactly. They already bought the football tickets. That gives it a leg up over the basketball game anyway.

Good Luck, we can't fill the Garden, and you think that we will fill Barclay's. Brooklyn is like a foreign country to people in CT.

I hope I am wrong, and I will be there.
 
Folks, we haven't filled up in NYC for early season games in seasons when UConn was excellent. In 2004, there were relatively few UConn fans in MSG for a November game. I was always more impressed by the away attendance at BE games against St. John's and even way back against Seton Hall at the Meadowlands. Lots of Husky fans.

I was also at the NC State game. It was not a sellout but i would say there were at least 15,000 in MSG. I think part of the problem was we played the second game of the double header. A 9 PM start on a Tuesday is rough...thats a guaranteed 1 or 2 o'clock in the morning arrival back home to CT and people obviously have work/school the next morning. The good thing about this Maryland game at the Barclay's is that its on a Friday night. Ive been wanting to check out the Barclays and this will be the perfect opportunity to see my first game there.
 
I am a huge UCONN hoops fan, but could not care less about UCONN football, which means that I will be heading to Bklyn.

Fair enough, I was way off. Still, a 9:30 tip on a Tuesday night for a team with zero postseason buzz...I'd expect this game can get at least 16,000.

This is some bull, IMHO.

Is it me, or does it seem that every year UConn fans are forced to choose between sporting events in NOV and/or DEC? I guess I'll have to check and see if any ACC schools have recently had to make these choices too...

Be that as it may, our fanbase as a whole (especially considering our success in men's & women's hoops over the past two decades) has become quite lazy.

I imagine that if (hypothetically) Louisville had a late November Friday night football home game and a men's hoops game (some season opening event) at say Indianapolis against Purdue, they would have no problem representing themselves very well at both events.

For quite a few of the reasons were are knocked by others we have nobody to blame but ourselves.
 
We celebrated this year when the same scenario presented itself as UConn bball took on Michigan State.

Was anyone here upset?

I was pissed off when UConn said the game would be on the video screen, then cut away to see the marching band play the fight song for the first if 7,000 times that night.

it's a song, you can hear and its literally on the field in front of you. pretty inexcusable to cut awayfrom the game when you promised it would be shown.

I think the roll call at the third place NIT game against Utah would have ended at about the 50th person.

If this is one game UConn against Maryland, would you like to set the over under at 16000 and wager a dime for everybody under 16k against 30 cents for everybody over 16k.

If that is one game on a Friday night they won't sniff 10k in Brooklyn.
