Sorry, why do you think this? They have in the past.I don't think there are any more polls until after the national championship game.

OD is right .... we'll see what noon brings for the AP poll.Interesting to see how this thread immediately jumped off the rails. The OP asked a pretty simple question. With #1 TX & #2 USC both losing yesterday would #3 UConn move up to #1 in the POLLS? Subsequently, just about every response misinterpreted that question to be about tournament seeding.
To redirect this discussion back to the OP’s initial question, I don’t know if either the AP or Coaches poll are updated again before the tournament, but assuming that they are, there is certainly a possibility that UConn would rise to #1.
As for the tournament seeding decisions, we can all argue about them in a week when the committee releases the brackets. Just think how much fun that will be if UConn is #1 in the polls but draws a #2 seed in the Big Dance…![]()
Yeah, probably.Am I the only person on the BY who thinks using "quad 1" as a measure of a team's quality is STUPID? If I am the only one, I'll shut my mouth (actually suppress my typing).
If you want to talk about quad 2/3/4 losses, OK that's probably more valid than a quad 1 record. FYI, I don't believe any of the top teams have a quad 2/3/4 loss.
I came across an article this morning on CFN, an online college football page that has nothing to do this time of year, so they decided to take a shot at what the WBB polls will look like after both TX & USC lost. Their conclusion is that UCLA & SC jump up to 1 & 2, TX & USC fall to 4 & 5 and UConn goes nowhere, remaining at #3.I don't think a #4 beating a #2, and a #5 beating a #1 will propel us to #1, especially when the #3 beats an unranked team. The top teams are playing each other, so a loss is not a bad loss that would drop the losing teams out of the #1 picture. Face it, we are the best #2 and that is just as good as the 4th #1.
And that is probably what will happen.I came across an article this morning on an online college football page that had nothing to do, so they decided to take a shot at what the WBB polls will look like after both TX & USC lost. SC should be #2. By far the strongest strength of schedule and net ranking. They have beat Texas twice by double digits. And I think most South Carolina fans would absolutely love to see UConn and UCLA again. If they beat us a second time, then I will tip my hat and say they are better.. The night we played UConn you guys could not miss and it was just one of those games. The night we played UCLA it was early in the season and the first time we had gone up against a real big center. Plus they were hot. It was a learning experience and lesson has been learned.Based on selection committee seedings so far, these look like the1 seeds:
1)UCLA
2)Texas
3)USC
4)South Carolina
The #2 seeds are more uncertain.
UCONN will be the 1st #2.
But do LSU & Notre Dame stay as #2 seeds?
Does ACC champ Duke surpass NC State for a #2 seed?
Does Big 12 champ TCU get a #2 seed?
They were certainly outclassed in 2 of their games vs. S. Carolina, but which is the 3rd one you refer to? Their loss in overtime at Notre Dame?I've watched Texas 4 times this year against the better teams and they looked completely outclassed in three of the four games. They play pretty good defense but not as tough as South Carolina but have a very limited offense. To me they played a so so schedule but did beat the teams they were supppose to beat so they were in a good spot.
Um….UConn has not played UCLA this season. I think you mean USC…SC should be #2. By far the strongest strength of schedule and net ranking. They have beat Texas twice by double digits. Plebe, I realize that it was small point to bring up but figured I'd get my 2 cents worth!Yes, because that win is probably what's keeping us from being a 3 seed.
Have to evaluate the resumes as a whole. Texas has 14 wins in Quad 1, UConn has 5. Also, UConn lost to a team that probably won't even be in the top 16. Texas's only losses are to teams in the top 8.
Yes, consensus agrees with you. I am OK with SC as the 2nd #1. But every team can make excuses for their losses.SC should be #2. By far the strongest strength of schedule and net ranking. He’s talking about South CarolinaUm….UConn has not played UCLA this season. I think you mean USC…
Not really, it's about how you perform against the teams you play, whether by choice or not.So what. SC lost head to head versus UConn (rather badly I might add). As far as quad 1 goes I guess UConn should be punished severely because a half dozen schools in the BE are not quad 1. I've just about had it with the talk about quad 1. It says absolutely nothing about you. It's all about who you are forced to play.
chen is the weak link and fudd is the ncaa's best 'number 3'? egad!I've watched Texas 4 times this year against the better teams and they looked completely outclassed in three of the four games. As far as UConn is concerned I think they will play anyone right now and do pretty well. KC is still the weak link but she has been flashing some offense lately which is exactly what she need to do to compress the defense for the shooters. Sarah and Paige are on a different level than any 1-2 punch in the country and no one has a number three like Azzi. UConn will again be the team no one wants to play before the championship game.
